In the last two away games we've mustered something like 40 shots on goal, nearly got to double figures with those on target, had umpteen corners but drawn a blank and this is what happens at times with young lads. As fans we have to accept our team at the moment isn't perfect but it's not for the want of trying by both the team, manager and coaching staff however some of our fan base need to learn a bit of patience which is obviously lacking in quite a few and always has been.
Obviously as I follow Ipswich 60 minutes against 10 men, then a dog **** Plymouth yesterday, not one goal.
I have watched them for over 50 years. Those last 2 away performances are not acceptable, if you think they are, good for you
If you have watched them for over 50 yrs, you will have seen many performances 100 times worse, so stop complaining
There's been times when I've seriously considered giving up ... ... as it stands I can't wait for Wednesday.
For me although its incredibly frustrating, i still see were playing some decent stuff....but were naive, very young players, guess its to be expected....could we have done something about it? Yes bring little bit experience in a CDM in....but we haven't, we dont look good enough to finish top 2....but were the better side in most games, these young players will get better, these young players will learn as the season goes on....im expecting a strong second half to the season as the learn & we do a little business in January. Things that stand out for me, were to open to getting caught on the break, Dan Neil needs to be the player that sits in, hes the most experienced one....but its no good everyone piling forward & leaving him exposed. Not sure Jobe is a number 10.....I think its time Aouchiche starts, the rotate Jobe & Ekwah....its to be remembered both are young players who haven't played mass amount of first team games, we dont want to burn them out & its a long season.... possibly few more tweeks but thats what stands out for me as most obvious Still confident were set for a decent season & the playoffs
Should I applaud that performance? If you accept mediocrity thats what you get, I doubt Horatio would have been happy
And if you demand superiority you can end up like Everton, expectations don't make a scrap of difference imo. I don't know anyone who's accepting mediocrity at Sunderland tbh, not one person.
How, in any way, have I done that? All I said was that I don't know anyone who's accepting mediocrity ... I'm not and no one I know is. Is anyone on here doing that in your opinion?
Hate it when we lose so don't come on the here or over the road straight away because I can't stand reading the over the top negativity that some fans write. I was frustrated watching the game yesterday, especially the number of times we get behind defences but can't find one of our players or when we do we fluff our shots. However, I then think of how young and inexperienced our team is and that a bit of leeway is needed. I also think it is deserved because above all else they do not hide and try 100%, even when things don't work out. Along with you Smug, I cannot wait until Wednesday, then the next game, then the next...........
Those last 2 away games were nothing short of ****. I love the way we play, but results are what matters, and throwing 3 subs on and hoping it will work doesnt cut it for me, I dont care how many shots we had, watching Roberts dribble himself to death doesnt win games. Its starting to look like if Clarke doesnt score then we dont function. Sunderland 6 Huddersfield 0
I'll watch it later. Yeah its 4. Just checked. Stoke and Swansea both added in the mix. Been a bad run given the teams and circumstances (10 men) for long periods at Swansea. Home from has picked up which has helped to keep things relatively ok though.
Results do matter, but so do performances. We are a work in progress, but overall our play is generally very good. The lack of a consistent goalscorer is hurting us,but there's enough promise been shown to lead us to believe it will come good, although I'm pretty sure it'll be upmost in the recruitment peoples' minds come January. There have been any amount of times in the past where I've been to places like Plymouth and come away with a pathetic, weak, dejected performance and the home team has looked way better than us. That's not the case now.
