Hate to join the end of the world brigade but things are not looking too good. I still have faith in PJ but something and I don't know what has to change. Maybe the system is not right or is it just bad luck? Not looking good though. As the thread title says, we're DOGS MESS.

Have to agree with ya Gus . Traveling back from Nottingham last night made me wonder why i've been going to all these far flung places week in and week out to watch DOGS MESS when i could just go a stand in some over the park at the end of Bramford Lane.

Well its not going at all well is it.

Keane HAD to go, and I for one was delighted when we hired Jewell. Someone with a brain I thought, comes across well and made some good early signings.

However, results speak for themselves don't they. Away at Millwall it was obvious the diamond was getting shown up. My friend supports Bristol Rovers, and watched millwall v city game today. I said prior to the game " check out Feeney he's quality ". My friend text me after saying he was average and a league 1 player at best. Perhaps if we match teams up it may work better.....

Ellington I thought was an idiotic signing and he hasn't done a great deal yet, I guess give him till January.

Chopra was a bargain due to issues - unsure if its been " worth the gamble :) "

I'm still annoyed he slated Martin for the red card at Peterborough - it wasn't even a sodding free kick yet Jewell comes out and has a go. Support your players, Ferguson etc NEVER slate their own players.

Not happy with how he's gone about the Billy Sharp issue, don't talk about other clubs players so openly.

Playing Leadbitter game after game for no apparent reason is baffling me no ends.

Bullard as a holding midfielder !? Don't make me laugh.

Jewell has ALSO done positive for the club. I'm a lot happier under him than at any point under Keane. I can KIND OF see something developing with Jewell, I never could with Keane. HOWEVER - 4 defeats on the bounce speak volume.

After a shocking start, we went on a good run, but that quickly ended and we're on another pathetic run. I've gone on record on several posts before saying this league is incredibly difficult, Rome wasn't built in a day, and anyone can beat anyone.

However, what I will say is look at our wage bill......

    Bullard
    Bowyer
    Chopra

etc etc etc we must have 10 / 11 players on £15,000 to £23,000 ish a week. That's simply ridiculous. We're 3 points off 21st and I expect a lot better.

Massive game at home to Reading coming up, could be a good time to play them. We need to improve, RAPIDLY.
Something isn't right at Portman Road at all.

    Once bitten, twice shy.

We've gone from having that waster Bullard on £45k a week to having no-one over £15k and most well under £10k, yet we have one of our best ever squads.

Team spirit gets you much further than throwing money at playing mercenaries at the end of their careers, as we found out to our cost in the Premier League.

In fairness I have to agree with OLM - Team spirit is the most precious commodity in a side - I was bloody envious when you snapped up Chopra for a steal though!

    Well summed up Westlake.

This diamond only worked at first because it was a shock to opposition and when we first started playing it Scotland was on form, dropping deep and holding up the ball, now he's nowhere to be seen and same for Edwards, he barely gets past the half way line now whereas a month or so ago he was creating most of our chances.

Taking away the specific Bullard aspect of this thread, it is something I think a lot of us have said for a long time. I wouldnt say alot of our players are mercenaries but we have a lot of 'been there, done that' players who have nothing left to prove in their career. I think it shows that our most consistant performers have been Cresswell & Stockdale who are both at the start of their careers.
We lack a hunger, a desire, a never say die attitude. An eagerness that only seems to come from those who have something to prove. It is often seen in decent players who have got their first opportunity at a higher level or those that have had a few years of obscurity. It is hardly ever seen in those in their 30's who have played at a high level for the majority of their careers.
