Had some very very interesting news this morning. I fully understand why Nigel and his back room staff have been sacked. I was shocked but when told it makes so much sense. Which one guys- Grahame Potter -the Lansdowns loved the Brighton model. Frank Lampard done well in the championship. Scott Parker been promoted out of the championship.
End of window comments by Nige, no more money, budget at the limit, not in a position to do any more business Nigel Pearson outlines Bristol City's transfer position as end of the summer window draws near Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Adam Murphy could be the final signings through the door at Ashton Gate as Bristol City maintain their strict stance over wage expenditure https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/nigel-pearson-bristol-city-transfer-8699279 “We are where we are, it doesn’t matter what we all would like to do in an ideal world. Our budget is at the limit, so we can’t do any more. I’ve got every faith in the players that we already have and, as I’ve already pointed out many times, it would be very, very expensive to improve on what we’ve got unless something like this week happens, with the deal that we’ve done with Taylor - which is a very positive one for us - but we’re at the limit with what we can do. “We don’t really have the ability to go and do that, because as I’ve said we’re at the end of what we can do financially so there aren’t options out there for us. They (loans) still cost money,” Pearson added. “People think about budgets as in how much cash you’ve got to spend on fees, it’s not that, we’re talking about the whole aspect of it and that’s wages. We’re not in a position to do any more business in that regard.
So, has our wage bill not come down sufficiently then? We know James is on a high wage, the highest ever paid by the club, but who else is likely to be on high wages? We wouldn’t pay Kalas the £22k a week that would have kept him here, so I would assume not many more are on more than that?
From those 3 choices I would pick Potter but I can’t see him being interested We’re not a stand out prospect with the poison that sits in the Directors Box and the rest of football must know it
I agree, I can’t see Potter dropping down to the bottom half of the Championship. Parker has only done it with players/teams that came down from the PL, so had good players already. Lampard would raise our profile for sure, not sure about our league position though.
If you know something that justifies the sacking please tell, because the vast majority of us think it was a stupid move and hold the Lansdown clan in contempt.
It makes sense that CF will leave. When a manager gets the bullet it almost always means the same for his No2. People on here know my views on CF, absolutely no loss to BCFC in my eyes
I'm sorry Nige has gone but it's quite exciting looking forward the new regime, I hope to god it will be a popular choice, we've had enough misery.
My thoughts too, didn’t agree with getting rid, especially how they did it, but he’s gone. We move on, it needs to be an exciting choice, at least then we’ll be able to see the point behind the change. I hope it isn’t Manning as I don’t think that would show anywhere near enough ambition.
