So was Gaza and the West Bank, Israeli land back in the day?

Yeah of course lol

Muslims weren't a thing when the Roman empire changed the landscape of the middle east

Neither were Christians, Christianity was like a small conspiracy theory cult to a lot of Romans for a good chunk of their history.

The start. Day dot.

Or, just sack that idea off and go from now and accept the land everyone has now. Hand selecting a year at random from over 50 years ago just to take as much land as possible from the jews is bullshit.

I'd say go from today. If you go back then you go back to the start and that's clearly not a good idea for the Palestinians.

Problem is, that even with todays borders it's still not enough for Israel as they keep building settlements in the West Bank

The Oslo accords would be a good place to restart. There was a deal on the table there and real peace looked achievable.

But after the assassination of Rabin, ****ehawks like Sharon and Netanyahu came to power and with it the religious zealots and ultranationalists have ****ed it once again. Also there were religious fundamentalists on the Palestinian side who didn't agree with Oslo because it relinquished the right to return.

But like all of these things, it needs compromise on both parts

so you good with people coming in illegally across from France now I guess……..<laugh>
Not a problem. I had a lad from South Sudan staying with me last year. He went from South Sudan to Libya, crossed to Italy, marched through Europe and jumped on a boat from Calais. Canny lad but he had to go in the end, he just drank every day and it ended up getting too much, for me.

Next question?

Cool. Nice to have it confirmed that it's actually the Palestinians that are the settlers.

I'd go with Archers. Start from now, everyone keeps the land they have and work towards a peaceful future.

I think the fundamentalists will always be there, so ultimately, this will always go on.

What is the Oslo accord? What did that do for the lands and living in harmony?

Well tbh it probably makes more sense to start in the here and now and work towards the future, rather than banging on endlessly about the past. That’s how problems tend to get solved.

At last...

.

Lol, it's not really that simple though. Depends how far you want to go back. The ancient land of Canaan was a mix of tribes, but centred on Palestine, pre Israelites, pre Muslims, and Pre Arabs...known as Canaanites. The Israelites then conquered Palestine under the auspice that it was the promised land, but the whole area has morphed under various influence from Egyptians, Greeks, Mesopotamia.

In some ways, it's a bit like the African continent, you've got defined borders of countries, but at it root, Africa is tribal and those tribes span borders and change within existing borders. So the modern maps and borders don't neatly define who belongs to which area.

Yeah they will always be there. I guess you have to have a solution that's agreeable to the majority and that will ultimately foster a lasting peace, albeit with some nutters on either side who will always have a grievance.

I've got to go out, so we'll have to get in to the Oslo Accords later <laugh>

I mean, by this logic Aberdude could stake a claim to central London as it was his ancestral home

why do you lie so much <laugh>

Exactly this. Every **** has 48 hours to get the **** off this island before we start bulldozing homes to make way for our family and friends.

We’ll start at Cornwall and work up.

u got friends?

the lies are endless <laugh>
