Funny how things work out. A tory MP calls for peace and a Labour MP says carry on the fighting.

The ****s a Tory wearing a red ribbon. I think that much is obvious now.

I don't actually mind him getting in. He'll dismiss what the left wing want and carry on with his centre ground approach. Does me.

    Bullshit conflation that.

Nobody on here is calling for 'Jews to **** off'

Two state solution has always been what's been advocated for on here.

And From River to Sea is defined as such for Palestinian people, but interpreted differently by Israelis

This usage has been described as speaking out for the right of Palestinians “to live freely in the land from the river to the sea”, with Palestinian writer Yousef Munayyer describing the phrase as “a rejoinder to the fragmentation of Palestinian land and people by Israeli occupation and discrimination.”[17] According to Ron Smith, since Palestinian nationalism envisages a land-based state, whilst Israeli nationalism envisages an ethnically-based state, the use of this phrase is understood differently by Israelis and Palestinians; for Palestinians, it refers to the entirety of Mandatory Palestine.[18] Others have simply said it refers to "the equal freedom and dignity of the Palestinian people."[19][20]

With respect mate, you can **** right off with that accusation.

There's nothing I've ever said that is racist against Jews. I don't agree with the policies of the Israeli state and their persecution of Palestinians, and that is a ****ing million miles away from being Anti-Semitic

Intellectuals who dig deep into words and meanings probably understand it as such. But the layman on the street doesn't think like that.

I've heard with my own ears Palestinians say Hitler should have finished the job lol

I'll stick it on Wikipedia later

<laugh> Well that makes it clear then.

To be honest, and whilst I can see why that phrase can be interpreted as being problematic, it's perfectly viable for it to mean that Palestinians should live free from Land to Sea. And even if we're talking geographically, it's not a great stretch to extend the West Bank to the Med in a two State Solution.

Am I surprised that it's jumped on and labelled as anti-semitic though, absolutely not

You may not interact with Palestinians mate, but I work with 7. So save your little laughing emojis as you deflect.

I have spoken to them in person about this war and have heard their thoughts, I as their line manager had to tell one off for speaking like that AT WORK.

To suggest the Palestinian people as a rule are these angelic folk who don't think these nasty things is laughable Pinkie. Your overwhelming bias slips in all the time.

There is a large, large section of people who would shoot every single Israeli dead and shoot them even if they weren't in Israel.

Any solution which you lot constantly bash on about would probably involve the Palestinians not being allowed to arm themselves.

In the photos filed by a Reuters photographer at the scene, a significant area of the Jabalia refugee camp appears to have been levelled.

Many of them are too graphic to publish, but they show large impact craters surrounded by concrete and steel rubble from collapsed buildings strewn everywhere.

In one devastated building next to a crater, a child - who looks to have survived - is being carried to safety by a man from an upper floor. The floor has nearly collapsed under them.

Dozens of people are searching the rubble for survivors.

One picture shows a body, face covered, being carried out of the ruins of a building. Several pictures appear to show dead or seriously injured children.

Nothing can justify this slaughter :(

    But definitely there, no?

So, the idea that people would find a Muslim celebrity who has nothing to do with Palestine, using a term like "River to Sea" as inflammatory is absolutely OK. So Saf has a point.

You and Fosse out of hand defending it, dismissing ANY negative connotations, could be at a minimum viewed as you defending anti-Semitic opinions.

But, that's not the case cos despite it being all over the internet, in my face, on TV and everywhere between is meaningless because Pinkie said so.

I've just explained to you where that phrase can be interpreted as being problematic. So I'm not dismissing any negative connotations.

Try reading what I write and stop trying to frame all of this in polar one dimensional bullshit rhetoric

No, you copy and pasted a section of a Wikipedia article that specifically said that the Israelis could interpret it wrong based on their own bias, but the phrase is actually fine.

I didn't read anywhere in that snippet the words "despite all of the above, some people genuinely would kill 6 million people, so it's can actually be interpreted as quite inflammatory."

That entire section was essentially just posting the opinion of one person, Yousef Munayyer.

Archers had it right the first time, it basically means Up the RA. Which some Irish would not view as offensive

No, it has different meanings for different people. Neither of which you belong to ethnically or culturally, so it's not up to you to decide what it means or choose one polar interpretation of it. Especially based on one of your work mates and his Anti-Israeli sentiments.

It's not up to me to decide what it means either, nor Archers. The phrase is embedded in the experience the people in the region and like a lot of these things, it's about context.

    The suspended Labour MP said

'We won’t rest until we have justice, until all people, Israelis and Palestinians, between the river and the sea can live in peaceful liberty'

Would you conflate that with a sentiment that wants to kill 6 million people ?
