I doubt that 10 years ago many thought it would take them this long to get back into serious contention.
They're a massive club with all the resources they need, but it just shows that a bit of serendipity is always required for things to work as you'd expect them to.
Something is wrong there, and we all have our favourite hypotheses about it.
One problem has been their habit of buying the flavour of the month players rather than the right ones.

they just need to start making the right decisions.

usually the first right calls need to be at boardroom level.

as much as people laud or hammer the pre klopp set up at lfc it was pushing board room people like ayre out of footballing decisions. poulson etc bought their favourites.

there is a very long amd clear trend of man utd since ferguson left buying "target men".

someone is at that someone is still at it.

start there.

someone has the purse strings at lfc and told klopp no for lavia and a hard no at thst.price but yes the endo plus gravenberch for mor money.

They’ve just had terrible recruitment. They’re back to picking names rather than actually developing a team.

That and the fact they’ve let ETH sign any player he once shared a coffee with doesn’t help. Think 75% of all his signings he’s managed at some point in the past. You’d think that means he’d have their support but wonder if that’s caused friction amongst other players? Favouritism? Doesn’t help that he’s managed them at clubs that are in a weaker league as well.

A rule Klopp won't break, never go back
