As time drags on, I'm starting to find it more and more frustrating that we didn't have a plan in place. Whilst Swindon was a positive result, we've also lost 3 out of Keith Millen's five games in charge and if the club has real ambitions for promotion, well that won't be enough. Rather concerningly, when perusing one of the Bradford City forums earlier today (as they're in the same boat as us, managerless for three weeks), I found the below article. Whilst Bradford linked, it talks about how since the division has been named League Two, of the 76 teams that have gained promoted, 70 of those achieved promotion with the same manager they started the season with. Only six teams have been promoted out of League Two with a change of manager mid-season, the most recent of which was 2014/15 with Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink for Burton! https://widthofapost.com/2023/10/26/changing-your-manager-mid-season-in-league-two-the-bare-facts/
Bit surprised with that but how many new managers have reached play offs before losing final. If your doing well unlikely to need a new manager though
Unless your team is 2nd in the Division -- or maybe a couple of months previously it had won the league title !
Really good and insightful interview with Brad in Kent Online. New Head Coach due to be announced within next couple of days and sounds like an exciting prospect to take us forwards. Finally some positive news after what has generally been a crap October for Gills fans. https://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway...t-to-announce-new-first-team-head-coa-296002/
Harris already found himself new employment. Been announced as new Head Coach of League One side Cambridge United. Best of luck to him.
He's come out with the same as when he applied for the Gills job (( which I understand as he needed a job. )) It will be interesting to see how he does at Cambridge.... I'm betting not as well as Evans at Stevenage (( although not a lot to choose between the clubs. ))
I will watch that one with interest. Both of our previous managers now serving in the league above us. As a side note I've always felt and said on here quite openly that Neil was more a L1 manager than L2, so it will be interesting to see if my thoughts come to fruit for him, anyway, I wish him all the best.
What I find interesting is that Livermore hasn't joined him at Cambridge. Perhaps adds a little more fuel to the rumour about Livermore being a bad egg.
