Are American peoples the most unstable people on earth, why this fascination with killing each other.
That has to be the stoopidest argument on the planet, it can't happen unless the gunman announces his actions in advance ... ... it's on par with dog owners saying 'He only bit you because you showed fear when he bared his teeth and growled at you'
I would add thick as mince, most gun killings are suicide. Why allow guns into an unstable society? Madness.
Backwards country. Only country in the world where 20+ people being gunned down is being met with arguments that more people with guns would've prevented it. Can't stand the place or the people.
As long as the law makers are funded and lobbied by the NRA and they cling on to their sacred 2nd Amendment...nothing will happen. I used to live in the States, loved the place...sadly now, its one of the most dysfunctional country in the world.
2nd Amendment can never be changed, apparently..... Meanwhile, it's another mass shooting day, or as the Americans call it - Thursday. I'd own a gun if I lived there mind. However, I've had firearms training and I'm not a nutter.
I had discussions with many Americans about this....If their beloved Constitution has been "amended " in the past....It can in the future. Can you imagine if we British ran our lives based on the original Magna Carta? That and the American constitution are not for purpose in 2023, they are nothing more than historical artifacts ....but they will always quote this to suit their ridiculous narrative
I read this and had a little smile. Because I look at what's happening in America with gun crime and think how do they just keep letting it happen, we had a couple of incidents in this country and they were outlawed straight away. But I also think like you I'd probably own a few if I lived there as I always enjoyed a bit of range time, unless it was the middle of winter!
When my kids, we’re little, I took them to Mr Twister, family farms, zoos, Thomas the Tank Engine at Peterborough, these lot take theirs hunting
Hunting ? The kids probably find shooting an animal from behind with a high powered weapon is less difficult than anything they do in a computer game.
I've seen a Christmas card made by an American family where they are all sitting in front of their Christmas tree brandishing their automatic guns. The caption they added was "Merry Christmas from The Robinsons (or whatever) and more ammo please". Madness
2nd Amendment was written around the time when a shooter, along with a pistol, had to probably carry a bag of gunpowder and a metal rod to jam it in with. A shooting spree would have been impossible unless the prospective victims were sporting enough to stand around and allow him a good 30 seconds to a minute to in order for him to reload. If a country, by and large, are happy with themselves to each carry a gun around with them, then thats up to them. I dont agree but I can respect that. One small pistol and a single clip. But a country that allows young men to have access to numerous automatic weapons and pump-action shotguns that can tear through a crowd of folk within seconds? Frigging lunatics!
You could still have a right to bear arms without having a right to own and bear automatic weapons (or add ons to make it automatic) that fire armour piercing ammo. If people were restricted to firearms that were suitable for defending yourself and your family it wouldn’t stop all killings but would massively reduce the scale of these incidents. Surely that’s a middle ground sensible option ??
I'm sure I once read the law they use to use guns in USA is something to do with the UK from when we ruled over them?...
It's to 'protect themselves from tyranny'. I'm not sure angry teens mowing down innocent civilians crossed their mind.
Yep. They cling to that 2nd Amendment . The NRA has it carved in stone above the doors of its headquarters. But they only quote a bit of it. The amendment was designed, (when there was no standing US army) to enable a quickly formed, well armed militia to come to the defence of the country or State, against any possible invader, and quite explicitly says so. In other words it would be expected of any small holder to keep a maintained gun for that and his own usage. This was when the US was overwhelmingly a country of farmers. No mention at all of crazy semi - automatic weapons, guns for sale in Wallmart, mail order weapon catalogues or guns becoming a right in themselves. Guns kill people. I don't like them.
