The one thing that Warnock did immediately when he joined the previous times was to shore up the defence and we stopped conceding goals. From there he put some fire into the players and started grinding out results. There has to be a plan and implementation with belief
With Cook, Clarke-Salter and Fox injured and Dunne suspended, are any of you able to play centre back on Saturday? Or should we just send Leicester a white flag?
Going to the Leicester game on Saturday with zero expectations. Could be the first time home fans sing "sacked in the morning..."
Hmmm, maybe I should take up this match reporting malarkey? 'Reggie Cannon made a full debut at right wing back and was very good. Print that out for a frame, it’s the only positive thing I plan to say on last night over this 3,000 word diatribe, and if you think I’m overly dramatic or too negative or over the top of whatever it is this week then you can bite me because I was sitting at Milton Keynes at one o’clock this morning waiting for a ****ing driver for my train so I shall be having my say today thank you. I suspect a similarly full and frank exchange of views is taking place between Cannon and his agent this morning along the lines of what in the name of Jesus H Christ have you got me into here? Streets ahead of anything else in red and black hoops. Oh, the kit looks great. Absolutely fantastic. So, I lied. There are two positives for you.'
Surely the board have access to all this information, just in case they don't know what they're watching (they clearly don't)? It can't continue and, if it does, it's obviously the plan to become a league one side. What a **** show.
Am I the only person that thought it was an improved performance on Tuesday night? Granted, we weren't very creative. But until Dunne's silly mistakes, we seemed to be more solid, harder to beat, more competitive. I'm not saying we were good. I'm just saying we were better. But a good penalty and then a goal conceded whilst down to 10 men... the game could easily have been a decent draw away to a good team.
Would you really want to watch that type of football week in week out because I’m sure I don’t, there was absolutely nothing going forward & GA said we must get wins but not a chance playing like that, come this Saturday we might as well go for it with more attacking as we got nothing to lose
I reckon you might be yeah. We gave, or should I say Ainsworth gave way too much respect to WBA in the way he set up and instructed the team to play. To the point it was unnecessary having our 2 attacking players on the pitch. Medieval, neanderthal tactics. There's not a single other team in this league that will set up like that against this sort of opposition. Every game has been about stopping the opponent and trying not to lose, it hasn't worked so he went to an extreme on Tuesday and it still didn't work. It was defence v attack. So as to your original question, the performance, in my opinion was the worst I've ever actually seen from our team in recent history, nevermind just under Ainsworth. It was dull, negative, uninspiring, tedious and very very boring but above all else it was a total lack of creativity from a footballing perspective.
That's how we should approach every game in my opinion. Build a style a philosophy of attacking football and if we lose so be it. Telling a team to get everyone behind the ball and defend defend defend is already half way to losing before you've even got on the pitch.
