In no particular order... - Isak's injury was worrying, what actually happened? He just walked off. - Wilson just didn't look as sharp in comparison. Poor miss and should definitely have equalised. - Murphy's injury looked very nasty, he could be out for a while. - Great to see Willock back. Some good touches, although clearly off the pace. Give him time. - Targett looked decent when he came on. Offered more than Burn (although I do think Burn has done a good job overall). - Tonali looked very decent and yes, I think we will miss him. He was an improvement on Longstaff, who looked quite slow/clumsy. - Tripps had a very good game, defensivwly and going forward. - Schar was solid. Made some great tackles and played some.good balls. - Almiron seemed a quite wasteful tonight. Couldn't keep the ball. - Gordon was our best player 1st half. Everything good going forward was through him. - Pope was a real mix. Some great saves, some good distribution, but mixed with some odd positioning and very poor distribution. - Joelinton looked really off the pace tonight. And when he tried to shoot... oops. - Lascelles - don't recall seeing him do much. Nit sure if that's good or bad. Overall, Dortmund were just a level above us and had more control & pace (on the ball). Yes, we were unlucky with a few chances near the end (and.hitting the woodwork twice), but I think they edged it. BUT, isn't it great to be back in Europe?
I said before the 1st game I want Newcastle to finish 3rd because I'd give us a chance of winning that and ffs this club needs a pot not amazing night's to be a part of. There is absolutely no chance whatsoever of winning the champions league. Newcastle are too pleased to be in this.
I said this to my brother earlier. The margins. We can all say he should have scored. But a better quality player “may” have scored. Bit we will never know. We are on a journey. It’s a up and down one.
Isak is buckled strange decision to risk him especially in those conditions. Its now Wilson for at least a month.
There's no chance of PSG, Milan or Dortmund winning it either at the end of the day. We can get through this group.
And that’s what we have to drum home. This is a journey of epic proportions and we are going to live all sorts. To be in this situation is just immense when you think 18 months ago. HWTL!
Won't be a month, imagine Wilson will start the next few and Isak may be on the bench for Man U. Murphy looked more nasty.
I tried believe me but some simply will not accept Newcastle over achieved and reality means falling back to around top 6/8 for year or two. It's not rocket science but you can't keep finishing top 4 with the likes of lascelles Burn longstaff and Murphy playing every week ffs can you ?
Wgat was actually wrong with Isak? He just seemed to sit down and say "I can't play any more", but then just walked off unassisted.
Seems like a thigh strain or something, didn't need to be stretchered off so I assume it's something fairly non serious.
Isak pulled up as he was breaking clear then laid the ball off to Gordon who smacked his shot straight at the keeper Watch back you will see he pulls up sharply
Yeah you kinda can.... Laecelles has covered for Botman well and been playing every game where we've shot up the table and beaten City and PSG.... Longstaff has been arguably our best player after Tripps and it's ridiculous he hasn't had an England call up ....Murphy was excellent on Saturday....and Burn played the whole of last season when we finished top 4.
How bad is a shoulder dislocation? Does it just need to be popped back? Rest Isak next game and hopefully he may be able to be a sub against Man U.
Anderson is not a miss. Think we are pissing in the wind with that lad, Longstaff was an obviously better player at the same age. Anderson is just faster and has shot now and again
