I dont think we decided to play for a draw in my opinion. They brought on some quality attacking options and we responded poorly. In theory, bringing Tufan and Coyle on was like for like. Once the pressure ensued we panicked. We had all momentum then the swathe of stoppages with subs halted it. Granted Rosenior could have brought someone on to provide legs out wide or in the middle of the park but I think again thats down to inexperience on his part.

Not read the previous pages of apologetic waffle, but it seems to me that Rosenior is one of those managers that, sadly, can't get the best out of a very good squad that's available to him. That may change, if it does it needs to change very quickly, otherwise... :emoticon-0125-mmm:

Well, that was a sickener. To be fair, up until the last 20 mins I thought it was a good, enjoyable game, would have taken a point against a decent Saints side, we gave a good account of ourselves, although, but for some poor defending & poor decision making in front of goal we could have been on for 3 points. But, as said in previous games, subs change games, theirs re-energised them, they looked fresh as daisies, they looked like they had extra men all over the pitch. Our subs had zero impact….well not strictly true, they had a negative impact in that we lost any cohesion & momentum that we had, we just looked knackered, hanging on, and conceded a last min goal. Sickening.

I thought the ref was poor, handing out yellow cards like sweeties, to us, but that’s not why we lost the game. I also wonder if we are now seeing the impact/missing Slater’s influence and workload. A big run of games coming up, a big learning curve, time to regroup quickly. UTT.

ps. impeccable minute silence before game in recognition of the suffering of Israel & Palestinians. Well done to all.

As always well thought out HT, but if we are relying on Slater to turn things around, missing him that much, as energetic as he is, then we're in bigger trouble than we might be.

'It hurts,' admits Liam Rosenior after Hull City's late defeat to Southampton
The Tigers were beaten 2-1 at home by the clinical Saints as City's winless home run was extended to five games

Liam Rosenior says his Hull City side has to cut out the silly errors if his side are to fulfil their potential.

City were on course for a fifth successive home draw after coming from a goal down to draw level against Southampton courtesy of Liam Delap's strike five minutes after Will Smallbone fired the visitors in front.

Rosenior's men succumbed to a 95th-minute defeat when Ryan Fraser capitalised on some sloppy defending to smash in the winner and send 2,000 away supporters delirious in the corner.

The Tigers mustered just three efforts on target in the game, and despite a really promising first-half display and more in the second, they failed to turn their pressure into chances, something Rosenior says is hugely frustrating.

He said: "Yes it is (a tough one to take). Conceding a goal in the last minute is probably the most horrible way to lose a game of football and that's something we need to eradicate.

"It's the third game in a row where we've conceded the first goal. We are now at a stage where, for all of our good play and even today, the chances we create - we don't take the shot or make the final pass, OK, but you've got to keep the back door shut at all times.

"That was something I was really proud of as a group last season and something we really need to focus on now because we are throwing away points from positions in our performances we shouldn't be throwing away.

"It hurts at the moment, I'm delighted we've got a game on Wednesday (at Birmingham) to get this out of our system."

100% agree on Slater. All the energy and unnoticed stuff was missing today. Morton/Seri couldnt keep up late on

I thought we played really well today. Fully deserved 3 points, got none. Sometimes that’s football.

We had some great chances in the second half.

Can’t be arsed reading this thread further back. No doubt more of the usual bollocks being posted by the usual suspects.

Waiting for the rugby so based on some comments did some looking up...

League games at home this season 6 matches.

    Shots at goal 88
Shots on Target 28 (7 against Massive)
    Goals 8 ( 4 against Massive )
= a goal for every 3.5 efforts on target .. or a goal for every 11 attempts..

    Away Team
    Shots at Goal 78
    Shots on Target 23
    Goals 7
= a goal for every 3.28 efforts on target.. or a goal for every 11.1 attempts.

Enjoy the process. We are lucky to be blessed with Liam’s style of play that all the players are coming here for not the money !

    Fine margins and all that

Though our lack of meaningful shots at this rate will be the difference between what we could be and 'fair to middling' at the end of the season

Be honest when was the last time a city side played the quality of football you saw today in the first half , Do we want 1-0’s of defensive stuff or this , it’s a question if quality and experience , Saints didn’t have the flair we have but they have the test to do well oh and £10 mill players on the bench , IMO I’d like two solid defensive full backs , and a Ched aevams or Gallagher at Rovers , solid tough and sharp inthe box
