We lost because :
Pandering to either some of you lot or the owner again like at Ipswich he puts out an attacking team.

Saints were very experienced and had quality
We are very inexperienced
Our fowrds don’t shoot
Our forwrds are static in the 6& 18 yd box
Our wing men don’t look to pull the ball back , but the previous note applies
Neither Tufan , Connolly , Manesh ordid any defensive work when they came on nor closed people down - Jadennwas guilty if this most of the game
Delap should have stayed on as he actually keeps a ball
The subs came on to score goals but forgot to help when not in posession
Saints played very good one twos and moved around the ball well . My complaint is we play to feet in set positions and get blocked off .
Our decision making around the box is letting us down

these are all player faults - you cannot put the whole lot on Rosie - BUT he has to sort it

Can’t even tell if this is sarcasm or not.

Personally I think our defence has gone backwards this season as well. Not to Shota levels obviously, but stupid mistakes here and there, players out of position, opposition unmarked in the box etc. Wouldn't be a problem if we were scoring freely but we're not so it is

Rosie improved the defence when he arrived by moving out Greaves and Figs and replacing them with Macca and Jones - recently he's put Greaves back in the centre and dropped Macca and we've started shipping goals again and losing - it aint rocket science to see what the problem is - i appreciate some people think Greaves can do no wrong but he's a goal waiting to happen

I thought we were excellent for an hour and then it just seemed to stop.

It was a really good game until that point and Southampton were also very good value.

Im disappointed to lose but not angry. We’ve performed worse and won already this season.

That said, it’s about time we got some more wins on the board.

Helps having a bench worth tens of millions doesn't it?

Not at all it’s what I witnessed - decision making being the biggest failing

So again it’s the fans’ and owner’s fault we lost because we pressured Rosenior into playing an ‘attacking team’ at home? We play with two holding midfielders. We lost today because the manager got his subs wrong and we sat off them in the last 15 minutes and basically invited them to try and score a goal.

Agreed. We need to make more of our opportunities when we get in their 3rd.

Yep and we certainly did enough of that today. I think that's why I get a bit perplexed with the reaction. We could have won today and they could also have scored more.

It wasn't a bad performance but it wasn't enough. At the same time, I feel like I'm saying that a lot.

It's not the ex prem sides with superior ability that will define our season.

Thankfully

That’s not the point I’m making though. You seem to have this thing about other teams having expensive players so we should be lucky to get anything against them, that’s not how it works.

Well it kinda does doesn't it. More often than not.

You saying being able to bring a sub on worth as much as we've paid in transfer fees since Acun bought us isn't an advantage?

I thought Saints were **** defensively. From what I can tell from their fans and previous games, they’re pretty **** defensively most of the time. Sunderland put 5 past them. We had enough chances to win the game imo but were too wasteful.

I don’t buy the argument that they won because they have a team worth tens of millions and they completely outplayed us. Ipswich utterly outplayed us. This wasn’t the same type of game.

They won because for some reason Rosenior decided to play for a draw midway through the second half and allowed them to dictate the game from then on. If we were a bit more positive and a bit more brave, we may have gotten a point or all three. Or we still may have lost but at least we wouldn’t have played for a draw and lost anyway.

Our next three games are:-

25/10 Birmingham away

28/10 Preston home

4/11 West Brom away

Acun will be looking at picking up 4 points at least from the possible nine available. I think the clock is ticking on Liam's tenure as coach at City, this is a results based business and Acun & Tan want results.
