I’m not voting, but I think City will win, I said after the last few bits of games I’ve seen that we’re almost there, it’s like a rock balancing perilously on the edge, once it goes & starts rolling, we’ll be one of the best teams in the league.
The whole feeling at the moment with regards to Rosie, reminds me very much of the Barmby era, we played some great football at times, but people wanted more, it was only when he was sacked that the Barmby haters jumped up & down & turned on the Allams, then Bruce came in, & all was well…for a while anyway.

...or both sets of fans booing to give a stereo affect. Now that's what you call a proper soccer match.

You’d like to think that Rosie would be bright enough to see how Jaden and Liam played for England and adjust his playing style….but then again

He'll probably be bright enough to realise that Southampton are a very different proposition to Serbia U21s.

remember the first time I saw Southampton play at the Dell - they'd just been relegated from the First Division - we drew 3 3 and only lost to late goal from Osgood I think - believe Channon was playing too - Hawley scored some or all of our goals, think he got sent off - we set off by coach at 11 pm on the Friday night from Ferensway - arrived very early Saturday morning - there wasn't many of us - we got chased about a bit at the end of the match as the coach didn't pick us up from the ground but from the bus station

    It's 100% this, without question.

It's really weird how it's been twisted on this thread as him bringing up his playing style and wanting to talk about. It's the absolute opposite. He's sick of it being the narrative before and after every game and having to answer questions that people will just ignore the answers to anyway. I really do think the local media have a role to play to improve this situation. It's such an easy angle for them to go at every time but they can do better. There are other things to analyse about this team.

You've listened to his point but not fully understood it. Sorry if that's patronising but there you go.

I remember the interview and he's said similar things at other times. His point is that our mistake at times is rushing to play a killer ball that isn't on, giving the ball away and surrendering our control. And this is similar to Seri's comments about needing to ignore the fans telling them to get it forward all the time, because getting it forward when it isn't on is a great way to give the ball away.

Obviously Rosenior doesn't want us to avoid scoring. He thinks we will score more by picking the right passes at the right times rather than naively playing forward into a packed area and giving up the ball.

Tough one to call, 2 sides playing a similar style, if we are at our best then we should win, a lot may well depend on who scores first.

I read the other day an interesting article about Lewandowski and his time at Dortmund under Klopp, and how influential Klopp was in making him a better player. He told him to slow down, take an extra touch if necessary and in time speed of movement and thought will come. He said he did this, and he started scoring more goals.

This is a bit like Seri was saying don't rush, learn to do things without panic and in time speed will come. At certain times we move the ball beautifully, in time this will increase over longer periods, we just need to be patient.

I'm no expert, but my gut feeling is that if we can score more goals than them we'll win this.

Would be brilliant if this was a case. Getting 5 points from the three relegated clubs to start the season would be fantastic. Where do I sign?

I've seen us transition the ball with just a few passes from a back pocket up into an attacking position, and it's done effectively and well. Against both Leeds and Ipswich at times we beat their press with ease and passed through them, but at others we struggled. As you say, it will come with time and patience. What are people so impatient for this season? Do they really think promotion is likely? This season is about development and experience for the squad. That's not sexy nor exciting but not every season has to be a promotion race or relegation battle.

So to paraphrase; we're too safe.

You can drop words like 'naively' in as much as you want, but you've just made the same point I did under a different slant. We're recycling rather than gambling the majority of the time. As for 'get it forward', you're still equating that to hopeful long punts up the pitch. If they provided more movement and ran or passed the ball up the pitch quicker, there'd be less requirement to recycle as there'd be more space ie; the area wouldn't be packed. We're willing to take all the risks in front of our own goal to create this space but then we don't often use it. I don't mind 'Rosieball' but we need to capitalise more to start putting teams to the sword.

We definitely do need to capitalise more and start putting teams to the sword. I've said this loads. For the domination we have in games we definitely don't score enough and that's the key thing we need to work on. I don't think it's about taking more risks or getting it forward more though. We already create plenty of good positions and good chances.
