As one guy on one of the fan channels said, that will never happen now that they've admitted the error. They'll only do that to explain decisions that are defendable, so this sanitised version of events is the best we'll ever get.

And that, in a coded-way, is what the club is saying. They're not accepting this self-evident fairytale, the same tactics after the Pickford one so that we accept it was just some poor, wee, little guy under pressure who made a whoopsie, but he's got a family and he loves his dog, and he's just a human who made an error and needs love and hugs, and his cat had to be put down last week and some more turgid, saccharine deflections that Chris bastard Sutton wants us to fall for, and "call off the witchhunt".

I'm sure Eichmann had kids too. Arseholes. :emoticon-0181-fubar

Wonder what the chances are they'll all be stolen from a locked office that only Webb has access to in a post Hillsborough-type event? :emoticon-0112-wonde

I'm sure there's a smoldering ashtray in Webb's office that, as we speak, has the cremated remains of the audio USB sticks in it.

Liverpool Football Club acknowledges PGMOL’s admission of their failures last night. It is clear that the correct application of the laws of the game did not occur, resulting in sporting integrity being undermined.

We fully accept the pressures that match officials work under but these pressures are supposed to be alleviated, not exacerbated, by the existence and implementation of VAR.

It is therefore unsatisfactory that sufficient time was not afforded to allow the correct decision to be made and that there was no subsequent intervention.

That such failings have already been categorised as “significant human error” is also unacceptable. Any and all outcomes should be established only by the review and with full transparency.

This is vital for the reliability of future decision-making as it applies to all clubs with learnings being used to make improvements to processes in order to ensure this kind of situation cannot occur again.

In the meantime, we will explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution.

it's not the "oh **** we got it wrong"

it's the "you ****ing knew well you ****ed up and said nothing" part they cannot just wave away.

Darren England must be sacked as a ref.

    the end.

the pgmol has a very simple choice.

look absolutely corrupt boys club by wrapping the arm round the guy or hang him out to dry.

they really don't have a middle ground

    nah.

the best way to deal with this is simply to fire Darren England. if there is a record of Holland being told of the error then he should be sacked too.

    really simple.

but I think we ought to have a serious look at the 3 refs bank accounts and wrists for the rolexes from uae and potentially get the taxman involved. the entire sporting integrity of the league is now in question.

English refs should not be swanning off to countries where massive bribes can be dropped midweek. period.

Slightly less bad news than feared over Gakpo - I was worried he'd done the same as Diaz last season. Jota (when he serves his ban), Darwin, and Doak will have to step up for a month or so. Need to try Elliott as a no 10 in a midfield 4 as well, IMO. Onward and upward - let's crush the bastard PGMOL. :emoticon-0165-muscl

if it only 3 weeks then he is maybe only making one real game v Brighton.

the international break is coming again so let's pull every player out of it.

    Don’t get me wrong
I totally disagree with replaying the game

however the stuff that has been said against us - well the ensuing fume would just be too funny

I sort of think they have a legitimate right to make the claim - ironically because of VAR and the admission.

    would be funny lol

I don’t think sacking the ref helps either tbf
    Another will rise

Think that was a cup tie. I just want to see Howard Webb sacked, led through the streets in stocks, stoned to death, brought back to life, and then spend the rest of his days sharing a prison cell with an imaginative and unreformed serial killer who has access to kitchen utensils.
