Think it's part of the 'respect the ref' campaign. If the manager slates the ref then why wouldn't the players do it?

It needs dealing with, there needs to be a serious review of officiating in there country and consequences for major **** ups too

Maybe, but like I said, such accusations need to be backed up with evidence - none of us can go round publicly accusing others of criminal acts with impunity. However, just saying they're **** is a valid opinion.
Managers should be able to question the competence of officials and demand unbiased examination of controversial decisions.
Currently the refs are policing themselves, and we all know the flaws in that system.

I'm not talking about verbal abuse of the ref during the game - you know I'm against that - but a reasonable critique after the game shouldn't get people into trouble imo.

You need to change the thread poll, incidentally, giving us an option of 'Will the officials go all Webbsy?'. :emoticon-0143-smirk

Their explanation of the error is complete bullshit.

They've basically admitted that VAR refs - the people responsible for paying enough attention to check decisions - weren't paying attention to what was going on, and then the resulting ambiguous language of "Check complete" where each party understood that to mean something completely different instead of saying "it's onside/offside" -then followed by the archaic notion of not being able to change the decision after play restarts, as though that somehow would be a bigger error for the integrity of the match, even though if VAR was paying attention, they should be wondering why they weren't restarting in the centre circle.

    Its all just comical.

Simon Hooper was the ref for the ManU v Wolves game at the start of the season - where Onana demolished a Wolves player and nothing was given.

    spurs should be worried.

we were extremely comfortable at 12 v 11

we were comfortable at 12 v 10 and scored 2, with one having to be interfered with via their back up

we were able to hold out at 12 v 9.

the ref tried to book everyone of our players sometimes imagining fouls to stop us making any challenges

spurs ended up taking off maddison, son etc.

Boom - the club are NOT accepting it. I heard some Arsenal divvy on 5 Live (egged on by the ever-ludicrous Sutton, who doesn't want this all to turn into a witchhunt, you know?) fatuously compare Matip's error in scoring an own-goal with England's error of not ****ing knowing which way the on-field decision he is paid as much as a brain surgeon to review had gone. Yeah, well had Joel turned around and celebrated because he didn't know which way he was kicking you may have had a case, you gormless twat.

Oh, and as we'd probably expect when we're totally and utterly in the right, apart from the usual whataboutery we have the insidious 'Victims' and 'Victimpool' being lobbed at us all over social and broadcast media. How dare we be outraged by the second complete and utter breakdown by VAR in three years against us after the Pickford- Virgil unpunished assault. MacAllister being sent off against Bournemouth was a human error. So, tbf, was Jota not being sent off against Spurs last season (and Kane not being sent off the seasons before). We can all play that ****ing game. But the Pickford one and yesterday's debacle were not human error - they were gross incompetence and cases that would have seen professionals such as nurses, train drivers, air traffic controllers and firefighters face prison sentences in their lines of work, never mind summarily dismissal. Good on the club for not accepting this utter bullcrap - turn the ****ing screw, and get us Webb's head on a ****ing stick.

"Liverpool Football Club acknowledges PGMOL’s admission of their failures last night. It is clear that the correct application of the laws of the game did not occur, resulting in sporting integrity being undermined.

We fully accept the pressures that match officials work under but these pressures are supposed to be alleviated, not exacerbated, by the existence and implementation of VAR.

It is therefore unsatisfactory that sufficient time was not afforded to allow the correct decision to be made and that there was no subsequent intervention.

That such failings have already been categorised as “significant human error” is also unacceptable. Any and all outcomes should be established only by the review and with full transparency.

This is vital for the reliability of future decision-making as it applies to all clubs with learnings being used to make improvements to processes in order to ensure this kind of situation cannot occur again."

In the meantime, we will explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution.

Falling to ****ing pieces quicker than a story about driving to Barnard Castle to check your eyesight. And some halfwits are STILL desperately trying to dial this epic cover-up down to a simple 'blunder', like the MacAllister sending-off or the Wolves non-pen at OT. ****ing wake up people, we're through the looking glass here.

I know mate, but I think questionable their decision (not abuse) would be seen (by the powers that be) as disrespectful to the officials. They're decision is final and all that.

    I agree with you btw

Only way any clarity is going to be is to release the audio tapes. It will clear up exactly what happened in matter of minutes.
