I love Diaz but there is still a sizable gap between him and prime Mane. Diaz is a fantastic player but he needs to work on his output (already a good start to this season) and his decision making - sometimes he holds on the ball too long and is always trying to beat his man instead of simply passing. I think he is slowly establishing the link with Darwin, which is crucial. Hopefully more to come from him.
Unsure on the whole mane v diaz debate. They are completely different styles of player. Diaz, I feel is more tricky, possibly could develop into a better all round player than mane. Mane was power and pace, I'm unsure I've ever seen a player with his acceleration. But for all his good points at times he looked like he didn't have a clue what was going to happen next, until after he'd done it.
I'd use that description for Diaz but not Mane, great how we all watch the same game but see it differently
Perfect description of Suarez, and he did ok. The opposition can't know what you're going to do when you don't know yourself.
For me the similarities are between Mané and Nunez, spectacular acceleration, great goals and the rest of the time (almost), hugely frustrating. Apart from those things, completely different type of player.
For me Mané was unique amongst players I've seen (at least those I can remember) in that several times on a run he would seem to have lost the ball by showing too much to a defender, only to somehow get there first and carry it past them.
He has a very bouncy gait and I think that confuses defenders. I can't think of another player who frustrated me more and that's probably because of the old adage, to those whom much has been given, much is expected.
the difference imo is not defensive. both seem to.le to sit or sat deeper for klopp. mane however just went to 10 for us all the time whereas diaz will join the box from wide. there's a clear difference there. mane would miss 4 chances to get 1 goal but he was a decent header of balk so profited of the full backs diaz gets less chances bit that might work better with nunez but he needs to start assisting
Callum Wilson on Michail Antonio; “The fact he made that prediction [finishing above and beating Liverpool], had no goals, assists or shots on target, no aerial duels won, lost the ball 10 times, played 75 minutes before being dragged, for me personally I wouldn’t show my face either.” (Footballer's Football Podcast)
