A pot of tea has the the British answer to all disasters, from death to serious injury, family problems and owt else you can think of.
As a Bobby I delivered many death messages before having your own phone was a thing, and made many a pot of tea for the grieving family.
Often used to think as a newly wet behind the ears kid of 19 delivering such messages to people old enough to being my grand parents and being thanked for my kindness, having just been the bearer of the worst possible news, it's a funny old world really.

Fk me I know a few fossils on this site Sandy but your right up there amongst the oxygen thieves.

Enjoyed this thread....I'm 71...so can just about remember the Charlie Chester thing, amongst others. One thing I do know is that us oldies don't need to thieve any oxygen at the minute......the football we're currently playing will keep us going for a long while yet!:1980_boogie_down:

In the late 40s and maybe very early 50s, there was a comedy radio show. I’m trying to remember the name of the show and the comedian. All I can recall is it started with jungle drums and short monologue by the comedian which started, I think: “down in the jungle” and ended “whippit quick”. Nothing to do with football, but it may take a few minds away from yesterdays result.

Before my time, but the "down in the jungle " reminded me of this

Got to the middle of the second episode of Yellowstone and then binned it, script writing is absolute s hite.
Shame. I'd suggest persevering until end of Season 1 at least. Got some great characters in there and good storylines

One more thing. RIP Ilya Kuryakin.
The Man from UNCLE actor David McCallum has died aged 90.
Enjoyed that show.
Didn’t care for the show but I felt sorry for David McCallum. Treated very shoddily by his wife and Charles Branson.

That must have been a harrowing job for someone so young.
