Sometimes I get the feeling that Ainsworths more bothered about trying not to lose over trying to win. At home last night, there were many periods in the first half when we had every player in our own half, Swansea's defence was on the half way line. I don't particularly want to see Smyth practically playing full back, we need his pace further up the field. Him and Armstrong either side of Dykes could be a good idea, as suggested by a few on here.

Couldn’t agree more. I was expecting us to go at them but we were way too careful. The number of times I saw us in the final third only to pass back down to our own third was really poor (and reminded me of last season). Really disappointing at a home game against a struggling side below us.

Can’t play Armstrong as a lone striker as it’s just not working, either play him with Dykes or Dykes by himself

I think you are absolutely right Bob. Top priority is not to concede, then play in a chaotic, shapeless way and hope that somehow the ball falls to the right player in the right place and we nick something. I didn’t watch the game but am guessing that our near 50% possession wasn’t used effectively (why would it be, Ainsworth disdains possession and certainly wouldn’t train the team for having much) and actually confused the players, and is more a reflection on how useless Swansea are.

At one point last night, Field, Dozzell and Chair were in a straight line of 3. One player ran behind them all and grimes just slotted it through to him. 3 midfielders out of the game with one pass. ****in basic stuff. I would have been going mental as a coach seeing that.

The question I have is what the hell was Bergovic doing flapping at the ball in the first place? Must admit that the from the camera angles last night I didn't realise Bergovic had done that, I thought the Swansea lad simply beat him to the ball and basically punched it in.....

Poor goal keeping and poor from linesman who missed the whole thing.... doubt ref could see it so cut him a bit of slack in this instance.... unless of course another camera angle shows he had a clear view....

If we are in dire straits at the end of the season by one or two points....

It’s dire isn’t it. No matter what way you look at it one official should be seeing that it isn’t a fair goal. Certainly you’d expect the Lino to be in a good position.

Of course in a different universe the Swansea player would either not have cheated or have fessed up immediately. We should be just as critical of the cheats as we are of the officials who fail to spot the cheating.

Please tell me he didn't actually say that, or was I watching a totally different game? I can't remember one save their goalie made, although somehow BBC said we had 3 shots on target(although I did miss the 1st 5mins of each half)

Yes I agree SW, you would expect the lino to spot that one. It's on a par with disallowing Charlie Austin's goal against Sunderland in the cup. That game of course was reffed by Keith Stroud who was the fourth official last night.
