Bristol City v West Brom: Latest team news, TV/Live Stream, tickets, kick-off time
Bristol City take on West Brom at Ashton Gate this weekend.

  • Bristol City have had a positive start to the season after a busy summer, losing key player Alex Scott but building a strong squad.
  • West Brom, although only a point behind, have a more negative mood after a last-minute defeat and off-field issues.
  • There are no fresh injury concerns for either team, but Bristol City will be forced into one change due to a loan agreement, and West Brom will be missing Daryl Dike.
The Championship returns this weekend, with Bristol City hosting West Brom as they look to build on their positive start to the season.

Bristol City enjoy good start after busy summer
It was a very busy summer at Ashton Gate, with Nigel Pearson losing arguably his best player as Alex Scott left for Bournemouth in a big-money sale.

However, the Robins were active in the market, and Pearson will feel he has built a squad that is capable of causing a few surprises in the league this season.

Bristol City will head into the game full of confidence after a comeback win against rivals Swansea City prior to the international break.

West Brom hoping to kick-on over the coming weeks
Meanwhile, whilst West Brom are only a point behind the Robins, there is perhaps a more negative mood around The Hawthorns, as they suffered a last-minute defeat at home to Huddersfield last time out.

Carlos Corberan has done a fine job since his appointment, but off-field issues mean he didn’t get the backing he would’ve wanted in the window.

Nevertheless, he still has a talented squad, and they will also be pushing to reach the play-offs come May.

Latest team news
Obviously, the international break means the clubs haven’t played this weekend, so there are no fresh injury concerns for either Pearson or Corberan.

Yet, the hosts will be forced into one change from their victory against the Swans, as Taylor Gardner-Hickman is on loan from Albion to Bristol City, which means he will be unavailable for this one.

The one positive from the Baggies defeat to Huddersfield was Grady Diangana’s return to action, as he made a late substitute appearance. So, the break will have come at the right time for the former West Ham man, who will have used the past week to build his fitness in training.

Elsewhere, there are some long-term absentees for West Brom, with Daryl Dike perhaps the biggest miss, and the USA international remains out.

Both Pearson and Corberan will hold press conferences later this week to provide fitness updates on the squad.

Is there a TV/Live stream for Bristol City vs West Brom?
There are three games selected by Sky TV in the Championship this weekend, but Bristol City’s clash with West Brom isn’t one of those.

Therefore, fans in the UK will not be able to watch the game, although there will be audio coverage offered by both clubs via their respective websites.

Are there tickets available for Bristol City vs West Brom?
Tickets are still available for this game, and they will be on sale leading up to the game this weekend.

Bristol City have had crowds in excess of 22,000 for their two league games at Ashton Gate so far, so they will expect a similar number for Albion’s visit.

With a capacity of 27,000, it’s unlikely to be a sell out, and tickets remain on sale via the club’s website.

When does Bristol City vs West Brom kick-off?
Bristol City will play West Brom at Ashton Gate on Saturday, September 16, with a 3pm kick-off.

we lose and worst scenario is 16th! We win and best we can hope for 5th!!!........ so come on you redzzzzzzzzzz

After I saw the PNE game and then the great result at Millwall it seemed clear we're better set up to play away.
Unless NP has used the international break to change our approach at AG I think 2 draws will be all we get, at best.

I see the glass half empty approach there RP! :emoticon-0105-wink:

I am thinking 3 from next 3 maybe a 4 from 9 pts is not good lower mid table finish .. however 5 pts would be top 6 [6th maybe 5th!]

Not half empty, I'm an admirer of NP and the work he's done so far.
But, and it's a big but, what works away obviously doesn't work at home.
Teams who come here sit....and wait.
That doesn't suit us.
Away the onus is on the oppositiion to play.....which does suit us.

How NP changes our home approach will be interesting to witness.

He needs to, to be fair, it's not been the best since he arrived.. I think the players have showed small steps in gelling.. I'm hoping the International break has given the players more time to bond..
What I don't want to see if we manage to get a lead, is to sit back and allow them all the possession for us just to defend....that doesn't suit us either..

I agree, however we both know City aren't alone sitting on leads.

We don't need another debate of our differing views on why 'it's not been the best'.

Why should there be a debate, .You've said yourself, something works away but not at home, other than set up or coaching...we must have an Ashton Gate ghost!!

Unless we have a major uptick in home performances we can kiss hopes of a top ten finish goodbye. I am not sure what statistics would prove but I would guess our constant failures of gaining 3 points at Ashton Gate are the sole reason why we have constantly ended up towards the bottom of the Championship, and if you factor in our ability to lose points during the last ten minutes of matches it only adds to the bad karma. Where would we be if only we could up the ante at home and add say an extra 20% points wise to our home tally based on our actual performances? Surely we have to be a major "what if" club when it comes down to measuring potential success and if you look back over the last several years at least we are consistent, but in the wrong way to get anywhere. I keep waiting for that season where we come flying out of the gate and maintain the momentum throughout the entire season, but then again I'm sure that was a pig that just flew past my window. Oink.

Nige’s notes: West Bromwich Albion (H)
15 September 2023
Welcome back after the international break and to the first of two home games in four days against West Bromwich Albion and then Plymouth Argyle.

The break may only be a weekend without games but it gives everyone chance to refresh physically and mentally ahead of another block of six matches and the players are ready to get back on the pitch.

We went into the break off a very satisfying win against Swansea City. It was a performance where we had to stay calm, especially with going behind which was disappointing, but we were very positive and that shone through.

A draw wouldn’t have been a negative result but based on how we approached the game and how we were quite creative, I think it’s fitting we won.

When you get the desire and the application of the group, in the way that we delivered it at Swansea, then regardless of what the result is, I know that our players are doing everything that they can.

Away from home we continue to create lots of chances and we want to take that positive approach into the West Brom game and get that first home league win. Playing at home in front of a packed Ashton Gate is something we should relish.

West Brom have had a mixed start to the season but they are a top-class side and we give a warm welcome to Carlos Corberán and his staff and players to Ashton Gate.

At the game we will remember those affected by the earthquake in Morocco and the flooding in Libya as we support the British Red Cross’ emergency appeals to help all those impacted by these tragedies.

We will also pay tribute to Lisa Fillingham who sadly passed away last month. I only knew Lisa for a brief time but I know she was a dear friend and colleague full of love and joy for so many throughout her 25 years at the club and Ashton Gate.

Take care.

Cheers, Nige
