Was at Watford apparently. Don't think Forest fans would agree with them though.

Personally Im quite happy to keep Oscar, but if a hold up man is going to be key to the formation then we do probably need another in case Delap goes down, or even to play alongside Delap if its one of those ugly games and you just need physicality.

I'm sure he won't be the only option though.

Weird that Udinese would buy him given that the Pozzo family would be well aware of how much he shat out at Watford.

Assuming we get new wingers zipping balls into the box... I'm confident Oscar will rediscover his "poke the ball in the back of the net from 2 yards out" best.

Maybe they saw something that Watford fans didn't?

Wouldn't be the first time as we well know.

Let's face it though, they'll be acutely aware the the whole Watford squad seriously underperformed as they were the ones paying the wages for a what can only be described as a disappointing return.

Can only assume they don't see him as the main culprit.

There are recent times City have been crying out for a decent no9. And there have also been times we've been crying out for a fox in the box.

Hopefully we'll finish this window with both.

Oh hello, laughing boy is back!

Shouldn't you be off trawling the web for long-form press articles to copy and paste in their entirety in order to create the illusion you can actually read?

I've seen this all summer in various places and it's based pretty much solely on hope rather than reality.

For about 85% of his time with us, he's been about a 1 in 5 striker, the other 15% he's averaged over a goal a game.

It makes me laugh but Greaves and Alfie are good for 75-80% of the games for us but they get heavily criticised for the 20-25% when they have an off day. Saying they're only good for 75-80% of games was probably a tad harsh too

And they say I waffle on about stats despite not ever posing any, just commenting on others but ffs!

You simply can't extrapolate what you're trying to from raw stats.

Football is very much an art as much as it is a science. A pass is a +1 metric. It can be a key pass or a simple one back to the keeper. A shot can be hopeful and speculative or dangerous and unlucky.

Start watching games, speak in terms of context and stop hiding behind stats to make far reaching assumptions.

You'll be doing yourself a favour.

Stats are part of the picture, but not by any stretch the whole.

It was a stat, 7 in his first 6, then 6 in his last 29 in the league. Approx equates to 15% and 85%

We've been through stats with him before which shows him to be **** but once we get wingers he'll magically be fine.

Clearly the gaffer doesn't think so as he's trying to shift him on.

    I shall reiterate :

Football is very much an art as much as it is a science. A pass is a +1 metric. It can be a key pass or a simple one back to the keeper. A shot can be hopeful and speculative or dangerous and unlucky.

Start actually watching games, speaking in terms of context and stop hiding behind stats to make far-reaching assumptions.

You'll be doing yourself a favour.

Stats are part of the picture, but are far from the whole picture.

Maybe the gaffer should try to increase his value by playing him a bit more or else he's going to have trouble shifting him on. Reckon we could have got 10m for him in January, and that's more than halved now.

By all accounts we accepted 3m and he wanted to stay.

That's consistent with what's been said by some all window.
    Perhaps you should start listening?

What in my post suggested anything contrary to what you just posted? Or are you looking for an argument like usual? <doh>

As I said, if we've got him on the books, perhaps we should be playing him and working out how to get the best out of him. If we accepted 3m for him, my quick maths tells me that's less than half of 10m, which is also what I said.

    Perhaps you should stop posting.

I've quickly considered it and decided against

If that's OK by you. Is it just arrogance, ASD or what with you? <laugh>

Firstly, we are playing him, and he's looked sharp. I an ideal world I'd keep him.

The elephant in the room. With Oscar though is he's not a lone striker and doesn't offer much in terms of shape.

We're evidently not going to be building a team around him so if, as suggested a good offer comes in the window - we might be looking at a decent fee for a free transfer - then it's potentially in our interests to trade.

If not then by all means, let him graft for his chance and hopefully he takes it again, as he did last season.

But perhaps you need to look at your defensiveness as its perfectly possible to broadly agree but with qualifications, which is what I think I expressed.

Doubt he knows. Probably just saw laughing boy liking his post so thought he'd have a go too. .

*Shame you deleted your post though, I'd have liked to see his response.

    Absolute stupidity of a post.

There's stats to measure different types of passes, progressive, key passes, sideways. backwards etc. Everything a player does on the pitch is measurable and it creates a far more complete picture than human perception does as it removes bias and error.

Football is completely stats based, and going back to Oscar, if the solution was as simple as whipping decent balls into him, that's what we'd do. The analysts will be able to figure out a conversion rate per cross from each individual crosser.

And I watch plenty of football, stats are just a good way to illustrate the point.

... and those metrics remain mostly subjective.

OK mate. Then maybe go to college one day. Do a research Masters and somebody else can reign you in.

You won't get past day 1 without basic limitations of quantitative stats.

Bury your head up your arse on numbers and see where you get, but I doubt you'll end up getting paid professionally as an assessor on the module for a decade.

You're just making schoolboy errors on the validity of your assumptions. All over the place.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

So the point I was trying to make above is - what happens when the window closes and Oscar is still here? Does Rosenior shrug and say 'well the stats say he's a bit **** so he can go play U21s' or do we find a way to get him amongst the goals again?
