The Athletic now confirming fishpastes story from last night.
Definitely on the right track mate but in this and age for fans to think that someone can buy a club the size of Sunderland and not dip into their pockets is crackers. Football clubs are billionaires playthings now. There’s an element of sustainability but it only gets you so far.
Just seen a tweet saying ‘The shortsightedness of those in charge is staggering’ and it’s got me in disbelief. Absolutely everything the club are doing is for the long term, infact I don’t think I could name a shortshighted thing they are currently doing. Surely keeping Stewart would be shortsighted thing to do?
Other teams do it. We cannot be in the situation at 11pm on Friday where we sell Stewart and have no time to bring in a replacement.Unless we're 100% sure Stewart will pass a medical and agree terms ...
... how can we bring in a replacement?
Damed if you do Damed if you don’t comes to mindPeople would be saying that if we keep him, he doesn't recover well and ends up at Wigan ...
... "Why didn't the club take the money when it was on the table?'

Unless the club have been working on targets on the quiet from journo's and no leaks coming out of the club, then I suspect that at this late stage this could well be the caseOther teams do it. Let Stewart speak to Southampton, let him pass a medical and agree terms, but we don't press the button on the deal until we have our own signing(s) through the door. Would be utter madness to let him go without a replacement
Never play FM drunk. Ended up with 5 strikers and no keepers after a mad deadline day onceLamine Kone rings a bell.
£8.5m for a 26/27 year old striker who’s never played above championship level with a year left on his contract is great business. If Stuttgart were willing to pay £10m for Ekwah I would’ve snapped their hand off and spent the money on a decent natural CDM anarl but I played too much football manager so I love a player sale![]()

On the Roker Report pages there’s a letter saying one of the reasons we find it hard to get some players to come here is their wags think the shopping here is rubbish.
What a load of bollox.
We’ve got Jacky Whites Market in our City centre.
Loads of Lidls and ALDIs.
We might be losing Wilko’s from the City centre but Poundland are interested in taking over the premises.
What more could they want.
In your mind, yesIs it reasonable to think that we could lose Pritchard, Gooch, Stewart and maybe Clarke in this window…
you really are a confrontational piece of work aren't you ...... Other than pick petty arguments and come out with complete bolloks...what do you contribute to this board. RTG was made for people like youIn your mind, yes
Teams can survive in the PL without spending stupid people. Its about forward planning and signing the right players, then selling them n reinvesting in better players. Then once you get to n stay in the PL you can start to spend money.Agree mate but unfortunately that unrealistic expectation has became reality. You have clubs like West Ham who aren’t even guaranteed top spending hundreds of millions before even selling Rice.
It’s only sustainable up to a certain point, getting out of L1 isn’t really difficult even though we made it look like it was - there’s not a hope in hell any club can survive in the PL if their owner doesn’t spend anything beyond what the club profits in revenue. English football and the amount of money being spent is beyond repair.
