OK, I'll rephrase it. Against Doncaster, all of the squad who played were "poor and often immobile", Simons was, by no means, the only one. As no ****er from the bench tried to say anything or change it for almost the entire game, one concludes they were following instructions
I was discussing Simons, not the entire squad. But I agree he certainly wasn’t the only one that was poor, which is why Ingram was left standing a few times with no one to pass too (though at other times Ingram himself was at fault, refusing passes that were on).
Baz equivalent on WalesOnline not reporting anything about a medical. Only speculating that there was a disagreement over personal terms with us.
Why is McLoughlin getting so much abuse? He’s been no worse at anyone at the back? He’s a better defender than Greaves. Also why is Rosenior so allergic to midfielders that tackle someone? Obsessed with energic players that can pass a little bit.
Didn't realize he was. I thought he looked nervy all game against Bristol City - for me that was his poorest performance for a while
Who’s been giving McLoughlin abuse? And I disagree that he’s better than Greaves. Don’t think thinking Greaves is better qualifies as abuse.
I think sometimes we get obsessed with wanting certain players, and I agree ideally a defensive midfielder would be a useful addition. But the set-up of the team is probably more important. You hear the term 2 banks of 4, well if you can coach the back line and the midfield line to work efficiently, then keeping the distance between the 2 banks of 4 as narrow as possible, then it is hard for the opposition to play through the midfield. That takes a lot of work on the training field, but it is a very effective way of operating defectively. However, let's not forget that since Liam has come in we have only lost 7 games out of 32 played, that is impressive, and we just need to turn some draws into wins. It keeps being said the opposition is driving through our midfield, but defensively we are not far off one of the best in the league.
Both of those can be true. We get overran in midfield by quite a lot of the teams in the division and concede a lot of chances but we don’t concede that many goals to the credit of the keeper and defenders. It’s not sustainable though.
I don't think McLoughlin has got going yet this season. No big deal. He earned his stripes last season and that's why you need a squad with options for every position. Not doing it then someone comes in to take your place. Same with Traore. He's looking off the pace too.
Whatever our problem might be its certainly not seri. Not for the first 60 minutes anyway. He was my mom against bristol city i didnt think anyone else really stood out. For me the problem is playing two in the middle against midfields with three or more
