He is one we were linked with earlier in the summer before his injury was known. I think we will struggle to sign two focal point strikers when we only play one unless we find one who can also play wide Perhaps we think we can cope until October until he is back. But it will be more than that as he will need to get fit. And we have a tough run of fixtures in September
Ross Stewart - He is training on grass and supposedly soon playing in a close-doors friendly to get towards match fitness. He did score 10 goals in 13 games for Sunderland before he got injured and I think we can all agree we'd like some of that. Plus he is nicknamed The Loch Ness Drogba which I can get behind.
Bit of Wikipedia and turns out he played for Ross County before Sunderland, who are affiliated with Saints. So maybe we’ve known about him for a while
I know I'm an overly optimistic prick... ...but hearing RM speak earlier and the way we are playing did make me think that IF Che decides to go, there' are so many types of players who could excel in that role. It could be a target man, someone with good movement, a clever player who knows where the goal is, a workhorse. Sure we need goals from a striker but equally it's a lovely system to play in for a centre forward and with dangerous wingers and the amount of players we get forward when we build, there's more than one way to make it work. Rather Che stays and signs a contract mind, natch.
I've been completely against this as an Adams replacement. Adams is clearly the better player and we would be mad to sell. But Loch Ness Drogba you say...
No, he`s started this season well - good goal midweek in Europe, and he`s working hard. He had a poor spell last season for a couple of months, but new manager has sorted him out. Yesterday it was Duk Saints were after, today its Miovski. Make your minds up!
Thought the Duk link was a while back. It’s just the puns resurfaced because he is such good fodder for them Miovski seems like for of a fit for the role we’d need if Che left. Based on what you said about Duk playing off another forward
If Lyanco moves to Glasgow I can imagine a whole series of religious wars starting up there centred on him.
It's a shame they're from different eras because a defence centred around Artur Boruc and Lyanco would be ****ing incredibl(y terrifying). Not sure Glasgow city police would fancy an Old Firm derby with those two involved.
On the topic of Ross Stewart: I have to admit to being pretty ignorant about his career and abilities but I sit opposite a Sunderland fan at work and he absolutely purrs about Stewart and when I mentioned we were linked, he said he'd be a great signing. Quite mobile for a big guy, can score all types of goals and brings others into play too. I then broached the subject of Patrick Roberts, which he dismissed out of hand. Said he's their star man, he doesn't think/hopes they wouldn't sell for less than £20m and not at this late stage of the window. Both please.
