So you have no real answer then? Not doing much to push back against the suggestion you're very black and white and struggle with nuance.

Never mind.

No, I don't believe this situation is all that nuanced. The situation is we have a good striker who wants to leave. Martin apparently wants him to stay. He said we are trying to get him to stay. Yesterday one good replacement for him went to a rival. I haven't seen any solid links with quality forwards so we can push on and win this league. Therefore, I am sceptical - and scepticism is a nuance o though - that he is truly going to be happy when he leaves. I am perfectly open to being surprised and a great striker comes in. However, this has been the situation all summer and there are no excuses for failing to bring in a striker in two successive summer windows.

What nuance do you want from this? I am happy with these sigings - they are fine- but unhappy, as a fan, that they may go alongside better players leaving. What is your issue with this line of thought?

All of these things can be argued in a reasonable way without making comments about my personality. How do you know I don't have aspergers? It seems to me that the ones moaning are moaning about the club and nobody else is any better as you think you will moan about us instead? But only one of those groups makes it personal.

Again, you judge me as a person and not my post. Did I say the world is black and white? Can you not read sarcasm in a post? Do I need to write in blue for you? I do not think that the two statements: "Players will only leave if we are happy to let them leave" and "we want Che to leave but he might leave" are compatible. Or do I need to put my brain back in?

My point was press conferences mean nothing. We learn nothing. Any promises are not promises. Any players staying and going are not up to RM. He is a coach and not a manager.
No I cannot read sarcasm in a post. That is not always possible in purely written communication. And often leads to problems. And isn’t it a bit rich for you to complain that I’m judging you as a person rather than responding to your post when I’m … responding directly to what you have written and not making any assumptions about tone or between the line messages. Make up your mind. You either want people to infer things that may or may not be there or you don’t

No, I want you to respond to the post and not to say I "see the world in black and white", which is a childish way of belittling my opinion without addressing it.

Fair enough, good response and largely agree. I think you can prefer not to sell someone and still end up happy with the deal if they tell you 'gaffer, I don't want to play for your side this season' and sign somebody who was on your shortlist.

The other posts earlier in this thread were a lot higher on the hysteria dial and a lot lower on the reasoned/explained logic dial, which is why it felt so black and white.

However, on reflection maybe I was a little too snappy with my reply as well, apologies for that.

Honestly I wish people could read a little more thoroughly before shouting meltdown and doomsaying. Literally said my complaints are that I think we are good enough to win this league and now I am a bit worried that we will have playoffs. Oh **** what a meltdown!!!!

Life’s all about expectations. I never expected us to win the league or even go straight back up. Would be happy with the play-offs. Might get excited if we sign someone good, or even if we hold on to Tella and Che.

I was enjoying a moan. I am allowed that. I have been way too happy with Saints this season and I am allowed to moan. :)

I know this is the reality of the Championship, but this Adams situation is becoming a piss boiler, could make or break our promotion push, I know they are probably trying to handle the situation delicately but as a fan to see our one competent striker being a ‘maybe’ this close to the end of the window with absolutely no whispers of an incoming is dodgy ground.

Not really. There was no whisper of Fraser until this morning, and he’s basically here.

If KWP leaves then you'd think we'd be looking to replace him with a first team starter, But with Holgate I'd be happy for him to be 2nd fiddle to KWP/ or another lesser player.
Agreed. But my point is at the moment a Manning injury probably sees Holgate and KWP as full backs. Meaning Perraud and Bree arguable aren’t needed. But unless a KWP replacement can also play both sides we would be short there. That said I don’t see Perraud staying as a championship reserve on his wages regardless. But he could do. Perhaps Larios and Meghoma will be enough but one is always injured and the other very young and untested. Former is also relatively untested too

Could of course be terribly wrong, but having watched Martin's press conference I get the feeling that a deal for Che is getting close.

Yeah we aren’t going to know exactly what is going on until the window is complete.

But this could still be a decent or poor window depending on the next few days.

There has been some good business this window, but Adams out and no equal quality replacement is still a possibility and if that happened it would be a failed window imo.

All conjecture at this moment in time, I’ll be happy to see this transfer window over.
