But we’re told we have to love it and that we’re dreadful mysogonists if we don’t

Well I don’t love it and I haven’t watched any of it

In their quest for parity of rewards with the men’s game, they’ve overlooked the truth bomb that not that long ago male players used to catch a bus to the stadium with the fans. Many had second jobs to survive and none had the potential money spinner of becoming a vastly overpaid pundit when they retired.

Thanks to the likes of Jimmy Hill and others who fought hard for a decent player wage we now have players earning obscene sums of money. It’s gone the other way

Do the women deserve the same ?

No, absolutely not. A fair wage for a professional sportsperson yes.

If the women’s game ever generates the corporate wealth, sponsorship, crowds and exposure that the men’s game has worldwide then maybe.

But it won’t happen overnight, World Cup runners up or not
<doh>I’m glad to see you reached a balanced opinion by …….. not watching any of it <laugh><laugh>

It’s simple if you don’t like it don’t watch it. And that’s aimed at everyone not just Redprint.

I watched a bit of the semi, because it was Australia and the final.
Curiosity more than anything else.

What gets my goat is how it's been thrust on us from every media output.
A 2nd rate competition doesn't belong on every news channel.
When they started comparing it to 1966 it went beyond belief.

Compared to the other stuff on the news at the moment it’s a relief.
After all we’ve been watching ****e now for years but still go or watch it on TV every weekend. So watching the Lionesses has been a bit of relief from the norm.
Anyway it’s Rugby World Cup soon so something else to watch. France for me to win it.

Can’t disagree with that I did quite enjoy it, but there is no comparison really to the mens game, and I agree the media went over the top. I did find it refreshing, other than Spain in the final, that the ladies don’t try to cheat like the men.
