If Moises Caicedo's sale to Chelsea is confirmed, Brighton will have made nearly £300m from player sales in the last 3 seasons (including add-ons). That's a cash profit, so the accounting profit will be even higher, as the purchase cost will have been amortised. Not bad #bhafc please log in to view this image
I wasn't aware of this - thought it was 5 years for PL too, so Chelsea prob ignore it for UEFA and get a small fine. The 5 year amortisation limit only applies to UEFA submissions. Chelsea will continue to manipulate, sorry account for, amortisation on a length of contract basis even if 8 years for PL and statutory submissions.
Thing is, this screws them for future years as they will be carrying this historical amortisation. Eventually they will have to either sell... or get revenues up but with the latter they are near their ceiling I feel.
Or they just say - sod it. Got a big fine and a transfer ban incoming... Whatever. We've bagged a lot of the young talent that we wanted.
Former financial advisor to Man City believes that Chelsea aren't even trying to comply with FFP, and will be in breach. But, they're probably factoring that into their business model re fines.
The Chelsea report has dropped, so I'll try and pick the key points out of it and hopefully not confuse the easily confused.
But they will have a ban from Europe surely? I can't work Bohley out. He has no personal connection to Chelsea so why treat it like a Money pit?
A ban from Europe - I doubt it mate. PSG absolutely took the piss and got a 60mEuro fine... which go decreased for good behaviour of some nonsense. This report is pretty interesting... gonna take some effort to pick out the points for those just exiting the shallow margins of the gene pool.
