That's fair enough. But of course, if he doesn't have that serious injury, then he could potentially earn even more. He's fairly comfortable by now, been earning a good salary for a long while, so he might as well take the risk. If he was only 18, starting out etc, I would say take the contract.
I don’t know if he has a family, but, I’ll tell you this, he should go get ****ing paid if the chance is there. I preach the gospel of Winston Bogarde.

There’s no glory in playing for Everton, but there’s exposure, more sales of shirts with your name on, more image rights cash and more money all over. There’s less of all that when you sit out what should be one of your premium career years on a gamble in order to get kicked by some knobhead playing for AFC Bollocks United on a Tuesday evening.

With Everton he'll get maybe 5 or 6 goals all season, dog's abuse from the fans, and another relegation battle. And if DCL ever gets fit, he will be on the bench.

With Saints he could genuinely score 25+ goals this season, and a probable promotion/playoff race.

Then he'll get offers from clubs slightly less depressing than Everton. Burnley maybe.

I know this bit may be fairly sarcastic, but the fact that this is true is proof that none of this sport really matters apart from week to week results and (at a push) which division you can get into.

Either get bought out by a billionaire of varying levels of billionarity, benevolence and personal evil or ‘get ****ed’ because nothing you do really matters and you’re on a slow treadmill backwards essentially forever. :emoticon-0169-dance

I’m still going to watch it though so…:1980_boogie_down:

Yeah but at Everton he’ll get paid more and play in the PL. I doubt many pro footballers give much of a **** what fans say/think, they know how fickle they are.

Each to their own but I would always advocate taking the money when it’s there, rather than gambling on a possibly bigger payday that might never arrive

Just checking with some mates about Vyner, will report back

“Has turned into a very good centre back with good passing range. Top end Champ player but that’s about it”

“He’s decent but if you are looking to go straight back up you should be targeting better”

“Can’t defend, more of a DM who plays centre back, good pass on him”

Views so far. Guess if he is going to be third choice sounds fine, would hope we are looking for an upgrade on Stephens or Bednarek, sounds like Vyner is about the same as them.

I doubt there's anything more depressing than Burnley, but yeah.

"Can't defend"? That's it then, sign him up...
