I've got to say if I wasn't so worried about the striker situation, I'd be really worried about the winger situation and the centre back situation.

Ba and Bennette aren't even close to Clarke and Roberts. If one of them gets injured (which they will - long season), we are painfully short out wide.

Likewise I love Lukey but the fact he's still one of the first choice centre backs in hurting my head. Batth looks well off it. The very limited I've seen of Triantis suggests he's going to be one we need to be very patient with. Alese long term injured. Hell of a lot of pressure and hope is going on Seelt being good.

Batth looks really poor doesn’t he, wonder if its a head turned thing or the injury he had

It's been a horrific start to the season compared to those of late. I know I was as miserable as **** yesterday but I put that down to having spent a week in paradise, the jetting home to watch us lose (again) at home. We played some good stuff on Sunday and we never play well in these early season cup games.

What is glaringly obvious is that Speakman and co have 3 weeks to save our season. I know that sounds dramatic, but if we start training in Sept with Hemir as our only striker then we are in trouble. We don't have Amad to pull our nuts out of the fire anymore

Batth took a few games when he arrived and does seem to take a game or two to get up to speed post injury so hopefully he’ll bounce back but it is possible he’s on the decline. It can happen very quickly, almost everyone thought Loovens would be good in league one and he was well thought of at Wednesday but almost overnight he couldn’t run anymore.

Having suffered from constructive dismissal myself over 20 years ago...I can see parallels here. I couldn't be sacked as I was successful, but I questioned a lot what the company were doing and because I was vocal, they made my life in the workplace very difficult and it became untenable. Ironically my issue was similar in as much they were getting rid of experienced people and replacing with younger staff, non of the people who left were bad at their jobs but in the eyes of the hierarchy they didn't fit in their plans for the future. Long story short....I left and to be fair to the company over the next 2 years the shares price went orbital...so, not saying I was right but sometimes pays not raise your head above the parapet unless you're prepared to accept the consequences. I feel TM is in a very similar predicament

He isn't just getting his opinions out of the clouds. Do you think others who hear things are too ? I don't mean that in an arsey way either mate. It's not been great for a good while and some have said this during May (post Luton) on here.

The transfer carry on after the 'looking at European coaches' mess has left Tone going into the season without the tools to do the job and feeling under appreciated. .

I didn't want him here initially but he worked miracles last year. Made some mistakes but given the striker situation, he did fantastic. Now, here we are again.

Hope they take note all well and good waiting for the right one but if that falls through like January the backlash will be massive, a solid striker and midfielder could be the difference between finishing 5th or 15th with how ridiculously tight this league is

Very clear again on there. No more waiting till the end of the window.

Direct quote " let's not wait, let's get a striker in now and get to work"

Doesn't get much more unequivocal than that.

Just more talk at the moment. But it's taking too long. And I agree with Tone. Seasons has started now and the positive vibe has dwindled away. That is the risk you take if you consistent remain indecisive on the issue.

If it was me, I'd pay the money for cannon. Just for this year. Least he is championship ready.

Serious risk of playing catch up already if we drag this out, one in before sat and the mood suddenly changes worth pulling the trigger for me

Don’t what else is on the table so can’t say but we’re being pushed that way. I’d say not getting Frigan was an error. It was simply ‘this is what he costs if you want him’ now we’re being pressured to pay a high loan fee with no future benefit. Why? Because we’ve been short on strikers for two long and left ourselves with no wriggle room, because we sign prospects ahead of what we need then need to sell to buy what we need.

Anyone else think that almost every club know we are in urgent need of a striker....because of the laws of supply and demand the price will increase because of our predicament ...I know for sure, If I was at the selling club and Sunderland came calling, the price would increase for sure
