Seems a bit unfair on those of us that went down to be honest. Fairly sure we could have stayed up if we just signed everyone we could without thinking of the financial consequences
Probably not to be lied to in order to get him to take the job and then repeatedly have the goalposts moved, while selling off a good chunk of the squad, in his first off-season?
Yep, I have them in my bottom three (alongside Sheffield United and Luton) too. Think it's a bit of a similar situation to us where they've circled the plughole for a bit and the financial issues caused by Chinese ownership is catching up with them.
Oh I seem to recall there was a delay in getting him in the first place. I guess because he had reservations and it took wolves time to lie sufficiently. Kept them up though. They were in free fall
I think he walked away initially because his dad fell into ill health, but I may have got that wrong. I think he was brought in to keep them up and then told things would smooth out from the summer but then it's been followed by continual 'we need to sell more players' followed by doing nothing other than moving around free agents (Matt Doherty) and Mendes clients. Wolves chairman Jeff Shi not exactly known for his honesty... Would not be surprised to see them get sucked into a spiral and failing to get out of it.
Mendes clients is pretty much all they signed before and it seemed to work well for them as they seemed to get players that clubs of a similar stature would have no chance of getting and seemingly on lower wages than you’d expect. But it doesn’t seem to have been enough to stop their finances being strained
Yeah, very true. I think coming out of Covid they spent a lot of money (?) in one go and it's meant a FFP bottleneck, coupled with the fact that Fosun can't seem to get their money out of China (sounds familiar...) and haven't brought in any outside investment.

Sheffield United arguably selling there two best players this window too. Baffling. Can't see anyone past the 3 you mentioned for relegation if I'm honest.
Both players they are selling have a year left on their contracts. With Ndiaye I have some sympathy with them as he was all set to sign a new contract when Marseille came in with an offer and he then said he wanted to leave. Not sure what they're playing at selling Berge to a direct rival however. Would rather let him go for free next summer TBH.
