Or they can use the various other options for getting about that haven’t been decimated by the Tories yet. Of the cities or parts of cities I’ve been to recently I don’t know well none have been no-go areas so far.
You were lucky then. They're coming, just like the brilliant smart motorways that kill people breaking down in their vehicle
I get where you're coming from Ubes, but it just seems so defeatist to me. Because what I can do as an individual, or even what we can do as a Nation, is relatively insignificant, it's not for me a reason to do nothing. What sacrifices are you being asked to make that are so onerous? Yes, migration is a major issue, but this will only get worse as large parts of the World become uninhabitable. The recent posts on here that I've been critical of seem to be all too keen to seize on anything - often bogus or taken out of context - that suggests that man-made climate might be exaggerated and to seek to use this as a justification for lack of action. It sickens me. The human race needs to take action, and we are all a part of it. But that's just wet and woke, isn't it?

That’s a rather elitist comment there Bracknell. So it’s all about the people who ACTUALLY live on the LTN road, and **** everyone else ?
What next ? Do have many more wealthy gated communities sprung up where only residents are allowed and the poor are kept out at gunpoint ?
After complaining recently on SM about the state of the pavement in a certain road where I run (and I have to go down to get anywhere from my place) caused by selfish residents parking their Land Rovers so they are near their million quid homes, I was told by someone who lived down the road that it’s nothing to do with me as I don’t ACTUALLY live there and can’t afford to live there….fair ?
Not **** everyone else but they probably should have more of a say. Vaguely citing mental health as an argument against LTNs sounds a bit disingenuous to me. If anything I’d have thought they’d have a net benefit.
So if they are rich and can afford to live in a nice LTN road then they should have more of a say ? While all the time, what was a public road, accessible by all, is now controlled by a minority of residents ?

Have they stopped building them at home
Nah they just finance them in places like Indonesia, Vietnam, South Africa, Thailand, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Angola and Kazakhstan

That really is an important point, Strolls. For decades we've moved the manufacture of more and more goods across to China (and, yes, other places where labour is cheaper) and enabled them to become richer, more powerful and more influential on the world stage. It is no secret that they'd like to be the dominant superpower, although at the moment they seem content on just being the dominant force in their region. We've let it happen because money talks and the West has been happy to almost sleepwalk to that state rather than doing anything particularly serious to avert it. We've helped to create that monster, so take a share of the blame.
I understand that the current state of affairs is no reason for you to do nothing. For me, it's like being on a cruise liner that's slowly sinking, where most of the passengers are partying hard as it goes down, whilst a few are down the back bailing out water with egg cups. I've accepted our fate and would rather be with the partygoers. You're the better man.
It does seem that it’s more a thing for the middle classes to get there teeth into…while working people are more worried about paying their mortgages and putting food on the table.

Actually, a better analogy would be to be on a cruise ship where at every port most of the passengers buy more and more crap, bring it all on board and the ship sinks ever lower into the water such that it will eventually sink, so you decide to throw all your stuff off the back.

It's a funny analogy, but if those partying stopped and helped those baling out (maybe with buckets rather than egg cups), the ship might not sink at all.
