Is this a premonition of the future Angeball ?

£72m for Hojlund??

Good grief.

The fees being paid for unproven youngsters are eye watering.
It’s a huge gamble. But this is the market.
He’s strong, fast and technically good, but totally unproven. At 20, he’s nowhere near the finished article.
It could prove to be a huge success with the club having a star forward for 10 years or an expensive mistake. Only time will tell.
It’s a very direction than going for Kane, who would have cost more (both transfer fees & wages), but is obviously proven at the top level and would guarantee goals for 3-5 years (if he stays fit), but would have no re-sale value.
Looking at how the Sancho transfer has gone, I’m nervous, although ten Hag’s signings have, by and large, proved to be good, even if the jury is still out on Antony and those who have arrived this summer.

having just watched our pre season friendly against Leicester i think it is fair to say that the £10m you extracted out of them for Winks is the one that really takes the award for rip offs so far in this window..

If the club listened to me 5 years ago I could’ve probably got £30m for him, would’ve used the whole “he’s young, English with potential” card.

How much did you guys offer for David Raya? Or did you not put in a bid in the end as Brentford’s £40m asking price was too much?

Fabrizio saying tonight that we’ve offered £20m as a fixed fee + £3m in add-ons for our first bid. I think this will get rejected personally, as I’m not sure how Brentford accept a bid that is essentially half of their valuation of him.

Given he has 1 year left and has publicly and privately stated his wish to leave, I still think £40m is outrageous. However, I don’t see them accepting £23m either. It’ll have to be somewhere in the middle of those figures to have a bid accepted IMO.

IIRC it was £20m, although not sure about add-ons

I looks like Chelsea will get Sanchez from Brighton for about £25 million, surprised they did not go for Raya
