That's just Rosell being the ignorant and arrogant twat he is.

    He's up against the worst chairman in trying to force a club to sell a player for peanuts, Levy always ensures that in-demand players will either leave for the highest of sums or will stay put regardless of the offer;

    Carrick - £18m+ - Bought for £2.75m
    Berbatov - £30.75m - Bought for £10.5m
    Keane - £20.3m - Bought for £7m
    Modric - £40m - Rejected!

Levy gets what he wants, Rosell may as well just look elsewhere unless he's willing to part with a ridiculous sum of money that even City/ PSG/ Anzhi would probably think twice about!

    What a non-story.
Is that supposed to make Daniel Levy think "oh, well since Barca don't believe Bale is worth £34m, lets offer our most promising talent to them for £15m. Fingers crossed that they'll agree and I'll be laughing all the way to the bank!!"

He thinks because the Goons rolled over that we eventually will too.
    OMG what a plank!
Someone should tell him that we aren't a selling club any more- even to the great Barca.

In that case, Carrick was in the final year of his contract - but, on the other hand we bungled renegotiations so badly that, even though he wanted to stay, he left.

Are you saying Carrick wanted to stay at Spurs? If so, that isn't my recollection. His head was turned by typical Utd tapping up, and refused to negotiate an extension.

    It's all here: http://www.wsc.co.uk/content/view/320/29/

If a player is having their head turned, it's usually not a good idea to bodge contract talks...

    In a more likely move...

It was that or Talksport reporting that Leandro will be moving to Russian club Shakhtar Donetsk, or hoping PSG succeed with their £20m bid for Taarabt...

Interesting, thanks. <ok> Seems Levy has come to terms with that side of the business now.

If Tom Carroll could get game time in the Prem with Fulham that'd massively help his development. Would be a great move for him considering last season he was at Orient.

I'd say his "Eureka!" moment was when he did away with the DoF system he'd stuck to since he arrived, in the process replacing the entire management team, and went for a more straightforward approach. It seems to have paid off quite well - unless you're Juande Ramos, whose career has nosedived ever since.

Um - no he's not. He says "Is that supposed to make Daniel Levy think..."

It's obviously a sarcastic imagining of what Rosell hopes Daniel Levy will be thinking. Oh - whatever.

It would obviously be great if Tom Carroll could get a loan to a Prem team. Not that we have any reason to think it is likely.

Russian club Shakhtar Donetsk? Wow. I mean - it's actually those twats' jobs to know this stuff. I get depressed enough about the quality of the news outlets I actually listen to/read but of course there's stuff out there that's even worse...

We didn't roll over for Barca, but we did get shafted over Fabregas. Basically it was a unique situation, the player wanted to go home to his boyhood club, so no other club could come in with a bid and push up the price to a realistic value. Barca exploited the situation and mugged us for Fabregas. In an open market, he would have been worth £60m. Barca use thier unique appeal (most players want to play for them) to drive down prices.

Isn't that a case of what goes round comes around, I recall them being miffed about how signed him from under their nose in the first place?

You were offered 45m in the TW prior to that weren't you I think? as he'd not long signed his deal, you decided not to cash in then, thinking you'd keep him, looks you mugged yourselves! Every year you waited his contract was running down, so no, 60m was way off any market value.

Eh? Are you for real? Err...Carroll's played in every one of our Europa games, hasn't he?

And the "story" is only "on the BBC site" to the extent that the (almost certainly made-up) story in the Daily Express is quoted in the Gossip Column section. A section that takes stories off sites like caughtoffside.com and footybunker.com among others. This column is just there to increase the hits the BBC's pages get. That's the name of the game - page hits. That's how transferroom.com etc survive - by getting gullible people to click their links which lead to made-up stories about clubs "planning" or "considering" "moves". The BBC, rather than maintain its integrity, goes one step shy of actually making up stories but is happy to provide a sub-newsnow service providing links to this sort of arse-water.

In an open market, Fabregas is worth £60m at least - just ask Barca how much they'd ask for to sell him. I think he has something like a £120m buyout clause.
As for cashing in, we tried to keep our best player, but he wanted to leave. Rather than keep a player who clearly wanted to be playing for another club, similar to Modric and Chelsea, we eventaully allowed him to leave.
If little Luka starts kicking up a fuss again once his contract has a a year less on it, then the £40m Chelsea offered Spurs, might have been better taken this summer.
