My point was that the article posted suggested Bamford got us out of the Championship. He didn't. He played a minor part in it. He should have played a major part if he'd converted even the league average.

He consistently ends up top of the charts on big chances missed and has done for years. Its an area where the team is weak and I include the other players like Roofe, Roberts and Co. Our chance conversion over the last 5 or 6 years has been below average and he has been our focal point throughout that period. We need better.

I'll point out again that his 1 good season (for which I gave him endless praise) was behind closed doors. No pressure. I saw him score a sublime hat trick for the u21s once in front of a few people and his finish on Thursday night was very very good but do you think he'd score that chance in a league game? I don't. When it matters he misses. He can't take the pressure. He can't take criticism from any fans as it affects his mental state. He's not for us mate. He can't do it.
He probably cost us our Premiership place.

Southampton making another £17m on transferring out Salisu, still waiting on £40m+ for Lavia and £30m+ for Ward Prowse, so getting on for £100m, Leicester making the same in transfer fees, yet Leeds making fk all thanks to the loan contract fk ups. We need to start making some cash on Gnonto, Summerville, Harrison Meslier otherwise we are trading in the bargain bucket again. No chance of promotion

If the transfer window shut today, we'd go up as champions, we have a great championship squad already

From what I can recall then no, as I'm sure it doesn't differentiate between players either. If Mbappe missed a chance from 6 yards, the xg rating would be exactly the same as if Meslier had the exact same chance.

No doubt Milky will correct me :)

You are correct as usual Aski. The intention is to look at the quality of the chances the team creates, not to factor in the ability of the finisher.

Ie it measures who ‘should have won’ if the strikers performed averagely.

On Paddy… as Jambo says he’s very one-footed, and I’d suggest that one of his issues is always trying to take an extra touch to get the ball onto his left to shoot. Not alone in that though.

Latest bs is if we sold anyone we wouldn’t be able to sign anyone due to ffp. Bet it doesn’t affect Southampton I’ll bet

He also hasn’t a clue how to head a ball

That’s it 100% not instinctive enough. His best goals are when he has no chance to think, but not enough of them.

It wasn’t all about his goal distribution under Bielsa, we created so many chances because of the press, because of the style of play, because of the work rate. Without Bamford we wouldn’t have won promotion. Without Pablo we wouldn’t without Klich or Philips we wouldn’t have either. For the amount we paid we had a fantastic return, the comment by the other guy is basically saying £6m brought us a vital cog that won promotion. Compare what that £6m did to what the wasted millions did last season.

Who would you sign as a striker, forget the Swansea guy, the asking price is £20m but he wants to stay at Swansea and run his contract down to move to Italy on a free. NewsNow is full of strikers we’re supposedly looking at and if you think Bamfords return rate is poor you’re going to be disappointed if any of these strikers we’re after join

Who would I sign?

There are plenty of options out there.

You're telling me that Piroe isn't an option but he is. He's available. Swansea are open to selling. 41 goals last two seasons for a middling Championship side.

Middlesbrough activated a 1 year extension for last seasons Championship top scorer Akpom. He's another whose contract expires next season. 28 goals in 40 apps last season.

Villa, depending on their signings, might be open to Cam Archer going back out on loan. 22 games, 11 goals and 6 assists last year in the Championship.

There is alot of time left in the window and we will be feeding from the scraps of the PL. If a PL side buy a new striker then it opens up opportunities for the other strikers to maybe go out on loan or be sold. A bit like Sam Surridge. I wouldn't want Surridge but he has been allowed to leave Forest on the cheap due to new signings. There'll be a few opportunities to snap up over the next month. Patience.

It’s Impossible to say for sure whether paddy helped or hindered us in the champ. Visually the side played better with him in it. But he missed stacks of chances.

Are there guys who are better finishers around who would have taken more of his chances… certainly in my view. Would those guys have helped the team to the extent paddy did…to say we would create the same amount of chances? Likely not… it would depend on the player. With Most players you’re compromising on something… with paddy it’s finishing. Unfortunately, that’s kind of a key skill for a striker. <laugh>

Piroe has apparently said he’s staying at Swansea, he’s wanting the free transfer next season. Boro activated an extension on Akpom so how does that mean they’d sell him, they’ll fancy their chances of going up. I’m hoping we get someone like Piroe, I’m hoping it’s false news regarding an intention to stay

Money talks. We're the big dicks in this league with parachute payments. The 49ers themselves have said they will be aggressive regarding wages so even if Piroe is wanting a free transfer I'm sure if we doubled his wages with a release clause if we don't go up we could get him in. Once the fee is agreed with Swansea it's up to our negotiators to persuade players to come.

So far we have pinched Darlow from Bournemouth for a cut price fee and Ampadu really shouldn't be playing Championship football.

While on the subject of Bamford, for those not on Twitter and social media, his cupping of the ears after scoring in a friendly against Forest was done towards the Forest fans who had been giving him grief. As usual a few clickbait sites wanted to make a story out of nothing cleverly cropping the images to make it look like he was possibly doing it towards Leeds fans

Just to give everyone an idea of what's required from our squad of players next season here is a list of those that made 20 (inc subs) or more appearances last time we were promoted.

Kiko 38 (app)
Ayling 37
White 46
Cooper 38
Dallas 45
Beradi 22
Klich 44
Phillips 37
Alioski 39
Pablo 36
Shackleton 22
Harrison 46
Costa 43
Roberts 23
Bamford 45

So 15 core players with 12 of them playing roughly 80% or more of the games which shows staying fit and available is key.
