Probably the one who SD and CM tried to sue for the Alvarez medical.

Mowbray has referred to Mayendas injury as a “minor strain” on the club interview. I don’t think the injury is perhaps as bad as it might have seemed.

Can you blame the club / medical team for a hamstring strain? Surely it can happen (and has happened) to many players over the years?

    Pure bad luck for me

Physiology is my expert area. Without being too arrogant. If it is 3 months , then that's a grade 3 rupture. That doesn't happen in light training. Especially the day before the game.

My guess is it won't be a few months. Be a grade 2 and be 6-8 weeks.

I'll ask about to see what the craic is

I was asking as I'm genuinely curious, you see loads of players in games pull hamstrings so naturally I assume it's just bad luck rather than something the club could avoid

Happens a lot when players don't warm up properly. Like you say just bad luck

I’m probably showing my naivety here but could the injury be the result of simply not having warmed up properly? Just a thought as it was Mayenda’s first session.

In games yes. That's normally during season. Max intensity and fatigue markers to consider. That's when a grade 3 can and will happen.

The day before a game, doing a kick about, absolutely no chance.

    Grade 3. No.

And, it's the coaches responsibility to ensure that players are ready, especially a new player who is getting photos taking for PR with his first day!!

I find all this mad and if it was me, full scale investigation would be had. Shouldn't happen at all this.

Wouldn't an underlying issue be picked up in the medical and this is just bad luck and like you say 6-8 weeks out?

It would have been picked up yes.

My guess is that they have let him train at too far of an intensity given he has been flying about, lazing about waiting for contracts and PR stuff.

Then it's went. Increased attention to detail needed.

Fair enough, your the expert and clearly know your stuff.

Makes you wonder why training was so intense the day before a game

    It's not normally. 60% ish.

Maybe Mowbray has got it mixed up with " a few months " that's 12 weeks. The worst for a hamstring strain. It also depends on which of the muscles are injured from the hamstring muscle group. That will really show the recovery time needed.
