Root,Stokes and Bairstow out for a combined score of 13. Can't win matches against the Aussies with that.
Never judge a score mate till both sides have batted. 300 would be a very good total IMHO especially after being put in. Yes it could have been more but with the dropped catches it could have been worse.

I'd say 50 or 60 under par. At 184 for 3 , that's not the best effort at all really.
But it looks a good time to bowl, though I think the pitch will flatten a bit. . If Jimmy can't swing it in this, then it really is time for him to leave it.

That's really the only positive from today. If we can get 3 or 4 out tonight then it's been our day, but if they are 100-1 at stumps we are behind the game
I do love Bazball and I don't necessarily think the wickets were chucked away today, but Brook, Root and Bairstow all played shots they didn't need to. Stokes got a beauty and Duckett was unlucky

Anderson's goose is cooked. They should have picked Tongue over him.
Everyone knew this. Tongue took five wickets in his one debut test and looked a threat throughout Anderson has four in three tests plus this one and not bothered a single batsman rearly.

On top of that Anderson can't bat. Bazball is great but if you're in the Bazball family you seem undropable...

Yep. They got three middle order wickets too easily. Ext circumstances for Ali, and for Wood and Woakes to a point, but that's seven wickets they didn't need to graft for, three of them top line batsmen.
That looks a 400 plus pitch to me now, at least. We'll need Root tomorrow as only three of the seamers carry a threat.
I had a bet on them to win 3-1 at the start, so I expect I'll collect We've done much better than I'd expected though, and if we'd caught our catches earlier on, or just a reasonable amount of them, we'd be at least ahead now. We have dropped literally hundreds of runs!
Time now surely for Jimmy to pack it in. Not a good look when there is at least one youngun chomping at the bit.
