Well Sunak promised openness and integrity with all things so we'll soon know.

I might have the wrong end of the stick but I dont think we have given them £600m plus. I think our export credit agency have underwritten bank loans from international banks. Sounds a bit like an insurance policy to me. In return the main contractor, one of the biggest manufacturers in Europe uses UK companies for export of components and skills. Always good to have solid relationships with organisations that spend so much. We exported £8bn or so to Turkey last year and have a new trade deal coming I think. All this is just a superficial understanding on my part and I am no expert so may have it wrong, but my initial reading was it is a relatively modest but useful step for the govt to take. I suspect we do a fair bit of this to support our undustries in their desire to export goods.

Sounds fairly reasonable, in that case. Government money to indirectly support UK businesses.

I am pretty sure we did something similar for a hydrogen bus company recently who are trying to export to America. The govt underwrites loans to allow them to invest.

My first thought is it is fake. No such constituency as Ashfield and Eastwood, it is just Ashfield, so seems odd. I dont know if that is a twitter thing or some other social media (i dont do any) but someone did setup a fake twitter account to stir up trouble for him (one of the million reasons I wouldnt use twitter or facebook etc). Could be wrong and it is real, but nowt in the media I can see and they would be having a field day you would imagine.

Above said he is upsetting people in his constituency. They have even setup some form of fighting fund to try and find ways to prevent his re-election. Mind you if Labour dont regain that old red wall seat it will almost certainly mean they have lost again. Fighting funds shouldnt be needed for Labour to walk back in there, you would assume anyway. A few solid policies for people in the community is all they need...

What a miserable tweet by Sunak. That sort of garbage is what loses peoples respect and votes, not gains it.

Ha ha, think they need to start communicating a bit more.

Exactly the response I would expect from Sunsk

The first three responses are essentially avoiding the question.

And as anyone who's worked in any large organisation will tell you, policies are set in stone until they aren't.

It's interesting how the party leaders have switched roles. Now it's Sunak trying to say as little as possible while Starmer looks like he's seen 'Yes Man' recently and is trying that approach on for size.

Was only a matter of time, it's a shame the same pressure wasn't applied to the P&O CEO

I think it's a huge problem in society generally that we're seeing here. When what you believe collides with reality.

Coutts/NatWest thought they could score an easy virtue point off Farage, because they convinced themselves he was an idiot based on his political opinions. Loathe him or hate him, he is absolutely not an idiot. When pulled on it they tried to bullshit their way out and got caught out again.
