Gary Jacob reckons Hojbjerg’s agreed personal terms with Atleti.

Wonder how much we’re asking for? Has to be at least £30m-£35m in my opinion. He’s one of the few sellable players we have actually worth something more than a bag of chips.

Would've thought there'd be plenty of interest in taking him for free.
 
The famously reclusive Joe Lewis called James Ducker of the Torygraph and said Daniel Levy must sell Harry Kane this summer if he doesn't agree a new contract, because if there's one thing Joe Lewis is known for is publicly weakening the club's bargaining stance by randomly calling a Torygraph writer just as Bayern are said to be preparing their third bid, this time offering €100m

Am bored of this ****e...tell Kate to make up his mind by 1st of August and if he refuses to sign a new contract sell him.

We don't need this going on all summer and throughout the season

Ally Gold’s done a piece and in so many words is basically highlighting how Levy’s letting Ange down already.

Ange in an early press conference said that defence was an area he quickly identified as a position in need of strengthening - and right now as we can see, we have no new CB 3 weeks into pre-season.

Implied the signings of Vicario, Solomon and Maddison were targets yet opportunistic signings to avoid finances for some rising throughout the window.

Tapsoba and van de Ven are targets but finances is what’s slowing down our moves for them which is why we’re now considering a move for Tosin of Fulham because - yeah you guessed, his contract ends in 12 months.

Gold himself says:
This is where Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be immediately tested to see just how much he is willing to back Postecoglou or whether the club will turn their attention to alternative targets. The club have used data analysis to mark out Tapsoba and Van de Ven as perfect candidates for the Australian's system.

Of all the positions not to sit it out for a better deal or haggle for too long over prices, the centre-back role was one. For the newcomers will need time to adjust to Postecoglou's methods and style of football.

It has been suggested that Bayern's ****ing about has the knock-on effect of clubs raising transfer fees as they expect us to be flush with cash soon for a while

The fact that Blackburn reportedly doubled the asking fee for Ashley Phillips bears this out

Clubs are raising prices because that’s the nature of the market, especially as Ally Gold said they’ll know we’re desperate for a new CB or two. Shouldn’t stop a club like us buying our primary target(s) for our new manager rather than looking for cheap alternatives.

On the other hand, when clubs start mentally tacking on an extra £5-10m to the fee under the assumption we'll have cash, that is not the nature of the market - that;s the nature of Bayern ****ing around affecting our business

You're actually the one making this assumption up. Blackburn are just simply putting a price on their young CB who we wrongly thought had a £3m release clause.

Except that doesn't stack with Blackburn's fire sale this summer due to them needing to cut costs by 20% across the board

Add to that it's not just Blackburn doing this, given the reports of Wolfsburg moving the goalposts for van de Ven 2-3 weeks ago

And that should mean letting their best prospect leave for peanuts? They’re keeping in line with market structure by demanding a decent fee for a HG talent, just like every other club would.

Ally Gold seems to imply Levy’s just being Levy. I’m more inclined to believe him than most other reports from elsewhere.

And the saddest thing is a couple of us even called the likelihood of Tosin being one of the players we’ll make a play for once we decide we don’t want to pay for Tapsoba and van de Ven. All while Levy raises individual match prices and continues with that SpursPlay cash grab. Always got the fans at heart.

£3m doubled is £6m.

That's a margin of error on our annual balance sheets.

Burnley just paid £19m for a kid from League One.

Not saying we should do the same, but if you identify a player who you believe will take you to the next step and/or be a future superstar, and he is financially gettable, just go and do it.

The amount we faff about with relatively simple transfers is laughable. Levy still approaches it like it's 2006.

Here's the obvious issue there: how many times have we seen clubs shift the goalposts over the years when it comes to transfer fees? Marseille with Batshuayi was the most obvious (and blatant) example of this as we made our offer, they suggested a higher fee which we offered and then they raised it again, and so on, and so on, all because they wanted to game Ligue 1's FFP system and hoped a monied club would come in and pay the fee in full (see also: West Brom with Berahino)

There's also the other side of the coin where, if a club's first offer is accepted very quickly and there is no reason for that to happen (i.e. no release clause, the team not having to sell players from a weakened position, or it's Deadline Day) there is reason to be concerned as the club has clearly overpaid for the player and the selling club are rubbing their hands in glee, for example some of Villa's business under Dim Sherwood got done very quickly and the only team not laughing their way to the bank was Villa who were instead headed for the Championship

When a club agrees a fee and then the other club says "Hang on, actually you should pay..." that is not keeping in line with market structure. What that is keeping in line with is taking the piss

Also, when Wolfsburg are playing silly buggers with van de Ven, with the suggestion they'll be happy to sell him for the £30m+ fee provided we loan him back for the season, that is not keeping in line with market structure either. Why? Two names for you: Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie, players we got a significant discount for when we bought and loaned them back for a season
