Their supposed replacement for him just got injured, too.

Palhinha appears to have dislocated his shoulder.

They probably should've spent the money before selling Rice, as they could afford it anyway.
Arsenal trying to short-change them wasn't an option either, as City were in for him too.

You just have to deal with it, but Levy isn’t good at swallowing an overpayment, even a minor one. Just how the game works sometimes.

The CB holdup is more likely a combination of wanting to negotiate, selling clubs holding the process up, and wanting to get at least one CB out the door before we start buying. Hopefully Sanchez moves on soon and we can get the window moving again. It is a big squad but there’s also a case for buying before you sell as it can really force a departing player’s hand.

Yep. We do exactly this when it comes to Kane or our other core players, yet when other clubs do it apparently it is grounds for a war crimes tribunal.

Of course the simpler thing to do would be to set up a shell club in Saudi Arabia who could then buy all our crap players off us and allow us to make some moves in the market.

    @Diego to confirm.

Matt Law, of all people, has written a piece in the Torygraph on the Lewis/Kane rumour.
He suggests that it's probably not true, despite being put forth by a colleague.
Appears that Utd's little friends in the media have been bullshitting, as usual.

It also has to be said that it's incredibly likely that Scott Munn & Leonardo Gabbanini have two lists in front of them right now: List A is on the basis of Kane staying put and has Tapsoba firmly at the top of it, while List B is on the basis of Kane leaving and has Muani/Vlahovic/Ramos/whoever at the top of it and Tapsoba second regardless of what Romano's latest tweet about Tapsoba being our top priority suggests

How van de Ven and/or Adarabioyo fit on those lists is where things get interesting, as List A surely has one of them in the second spot on the basis that, assuming we get Tapsoba across the line, we bring in one of them while ushering some deadwood out the door - but List B surely has a large chunk of the Kane fee going on Muani/Vlahovic/Ramos/whoever which likely puts Tapsoba, van de Ven and Adarabioyo on a more equal footing or, to put it another way, however much we spend on M/V/R/w directly bleeds into how we line up our CB dealings

It certainly seems that way given the spread of the likely fees
Adarabioyo is reportedly available for £25m, and we'd likely pay that
van de Ven is allegedly going to cost upwards of £30m, and we seem to be trying to keep it close to £30m
Tapsoba on the other hand has a lot of swing to it, with some sources claiming £40m while others getting closer to £60m, and with them flush with cash after the Diaby sale our options are either swallow the £60m and risk not getting another CB or trying to get them down to £50m in the hope that leaves enough for a second CB

Of course, there's always the Paratici route: £5m loan fee this season and the £45m option triggers next summer (to pull a couple of figures out of my backside)

    Anyway, in other news...

Di Marzio claims that Bayern are willing to add a buyback clause that can be activated in two or three years as they definitely don't sound increasingly desperate now that PSG are in play, even though that could just be us calling in a favour and having them express interest

Meanwhile, Matteo Moretto claims that PEH is close to agreeing personal terms with Atletico Madrid

And, even though I posted the link in the last post...

Gary Jacob says we've agreed a £13m fee with Spartak Moscow for Sanchez

Well that friendly with Shakhtar is going to have a bit of needle to it now, isn't it?

    Lol.

I'd take a tenner and courtesy car in exchange for all of Ndombele, Sessegnon, Sanchez, Dier, Richarlison, Lo Celso and Rodon.

I'm sure the Saudis can rummage down the back of the couch and find that.

Can we even make that deal? Aren't there sanctions that would prevent it?

Knowing us, there probably are and we've forgotten about them.

After all, we struggled to count to 8 back in January.

It gets murkier due to Spartak being owned by Lukoil, who had to change presidents last year due to then-president Vagit Alekperov being hit with sanctions

And then it gets confusing: their club president and second-highest shareholder until last August was Leonid Fedun, who co-founded Lukoil with Alekperov and had been at Spartak since 2004, but last August he sold 100% of his shares to...Lukoil, whose current CEO Vadim Vorobyev seems to have as much press coverage as the randy Honey Monster's bastard daughter who got stuffed into the House of Lords today

Sounds as dodgy as Todd Bollo's dealings at Chelsea

Fabrizio Romano says that West Scam have bid £40m for him (so not the £25-30m fee being bandied about a few weeks ago), and that bid has been rejected as Chelsea want £45m

    Oh well, Gabri Veiga anyone...?

Hopefully this nudges Marseille and Galatasaray to come in with bids around the same level

Any club where you don't sound like Fox Mulder discussing their ownership structure, frankly...

He'd be mad to go there - or frankly most Eastern European leagues. Regardless of his form on the pitch, he will think back on his last few months as one king birthday party in comparison to the horrific **** that will come his way there.
