I’m suggesting that if there was one area of the pitch we had enough it was AML.
Having said that I’m happy with him.

It doesn't matter who's replaced if they score twice as many goals and get twice as many assists.

The order they come in isn't really important and secondly it's not like walking into a shop and just buying what you want it's what's available and when.

Agreed.

I feel a big sorry for ASM aswell. He’s obviously worked hard to get fit for the nee season. And then gets shunted.
Yeah, I'm not one for kicking Maxi down the road unceremoniously at all... I mean, I'm pleased this transfer has happened for all the reasons that have been discussed, as well as the fact Maxi sitting on his arse when he should be tracking back absolutely boiled my piss, but he was a good player. A different threat and was fantastic with the fans and the community.
Genuinely one of the shining lights in the darkest of times... But we're not in dark times now. He's no longer the star and we (sadly for him) can no longer carry him, whereas once he carried us. The benefit of his sale re bringing others in cannot be underestimated to boot.

@Geordieginola - I thought I'd dig this out as it was mentioned the other day and I couldn't remember the metric:

We're now subject to UEFA’s regulations, including the squad cost control ratio. This limits player wages, transfers and agent fees that to 70% of revenue and profit on player sales, though there will be a gradual implementation over 3 seasons (90% in 2023/24, 80% in 2024/25 and 70% from 2025/26).

This new ratio places aspirational clubs like Newcastle at an immediate disadvantage, due to their relatively low revenue at the beginning of a growth cycle. Looking at 2021/22, Newcastle’s squad control ratio is 107%, which is much higher than the Big Six.

If Newcastle were to adhere to the ultimate 70% target, based on current revenue their budget would be restricted to only £134m, compared to £481m for Manchester City. This would make it very difficult compete, which is presumably why UEFA no longer refer to these rules as financial “fair play”.

In April, we were at 107%. Now CL money, new sponsorship etc will have brought that down, but it remains something to be wary of.

Why would you feel sorry for him? He's a multi millionaire professional footballer.
This kinda **** is par for the course in professional football.
He's gonna spend a few years in Saudi and his family will become very very wealthy for generations to come.

I mean if we can just shift Darlow, Hendrick, Hayden, Ritchie and Lewis to bring in Disasi and a left back (is Lodi worth a look??) then it's a fantastic Summer.

It was never anything to do with 'fair'

It was always a wolf in sheep's clothing....I find it bewildering that some people fell for the words fair play being attached to it because to anyone with half a brain it was nothing but anti competitive.

Lol just call it fair play and millions of idiots will only read that far into it anyway<applause>

The Disasi story has been completely rubbished by Downie. I think liveramento can play rb and cb so I think he might be the one..

Left back? I'm expecting a bigger name then shut up Shop.

Seems wishful thinking with Ritchie, if he is indeed being offered a new contract, seems odd when he's 33 and a fringe player though.

Fraser, Hendrick, Hayden, Darlow, Lewis, Laecelles blah blah all need moving on, but I genuinely think we'll struggle for takers considering the only place they'll go is the Championship, and will be offered lower wages than their current contracts, so loaning them out until their contracts are done is probably going to be the only way.

Sadly agree, some might go permanently, but others I expect we'll have to loan and even then still partly cover their wages. Still an overall reduction, but not as clean as all being sold.

Ritchie won't be going, he's literally just been given a new 1 year contract, following his previous contract expiring last month.

It's this bit I always hark back to when I think about Jurgen and his ceiling... most people I try to explain it to just don't understand what the hell it's all about though.

Hate that horse toothed, sausage loving, cap humping prick.
