Triggered. It's just a BS woke word for modern fannies and kids. It annoys me.

I mean, it looks like you were "triggered" by me alluding to the fact that you were being a prick, which anyone that knows me would have totally discounted as just throwaway language, in a part of a patronising sentence aimed at us everyone here.

I think you're sometimes looking a bit further into posts than otherwise you might, if you actually knew any of us other than from behind a keyboard.

But the rest of it, whatever it is, is probably me :emoticon-0138-think

PS - @Hung Drawn and Quartered meets up before games, doesn't drink and IS a demon.

You were triggered.

You reacted to being wrong I laughed at you... you're trying to use mental gymnastics.

Also I think there's a strong chance a few people might be formulating a plan to lure me into a trap to murder me for being such a **** on here.

I think it's more likely the other way - ie they'll just be a load of guys drinking in the pub and forgetting about the internet, and you'll turn up armed with your screenshots and records of arguments for the last 5 years, along with an arsenal of knuckle dusters, flick knives and numchucks.

I'll need a crane to win a thumb war vs obi.

So who on here writes for The Mag?

https://www.themag.co.uk/2023/07/ve...g-should-sell-instead-of-allan-saint-maximin/

This looks very familiar...

"I saw some… interesting opinions online, amongst them was this one…"

‘Instead of Maxi for £30m, why wouldn’t we get rid of the deadwood below for the same amount (plus more wages off the books)?:

Lacelles – £7.5m
Fraser – £7.5m
Darlow – £5m
Hayden – £4m
Hendrick – £3m
Gillespie – £3m’

Wtf that is almost exactly what I wrote last week!

Plagiarism! Come on which one of you owes me a cut of your fee?

If you are going to steal my genius please do so in full, in future!

Player out - value (wage)

Hendrick - £1m (40k)
Lewis - £1m (38k)
Ritchie - £1m (45k)
Hayden - £3m (30k)
Darlow - £3m (30k)
Manquillo - £3m (35k)
Krafth - £3m (55k)
Dubravka - £5m (38k)
Lascelles - £5m (40k)
Fraser - £5m (42k)
Total - £30m - (393k)

Would make more sense imo, cuts the wage bill substantially more also while retaining a good player and losing10 players who are not going to be needed :bandit:

The issue we appear to have is wages to turnover ratio that needs to be at 90% this year (and down to 70% by 2025 I believe) but I think we were at 94% last season before Tonali arrived - yeah a few have gone but the wage bill is the main issue. We can lose 5x as much on the wage bill getting rid of the dead wood (still nearly 3x if we covered half the wages) than by getting rid of one player.

Maybe we can do a package deal with some Saudi team....

So, just in case any of us understand how this works as Twitter is a void of misunderstanding it seems:

We sell Maxi for £40m - rumoured (R) This is £40m positive in the FFP calculation. Recognised 100% on sale as Maxi isn't on finance. His fee is paid for, but we still pay him a wage.

We buy Barnes for £40m (R)
We amortise the sale of Barnes over 5 years = £8m per year for the FFP calc.

We need to consider the Maxi vs Barnes wage diff. Let's say, for example, it's a £40k a week diff (R)
£40k x 52 = £2.08m a year
Add that to the £8m fee, then that means Barnes costs us just over £10m a year for FFP calcs (R)

Soooo... assuming the above figures are correct, we now have £30m left to do the same thing again. With another player.

Presuming we sell nobody else and buy another player for let's say £60m, we have that fee plus their wages to amortise out over 5 years.

£60m / 5 = £12m a year fee. Wages at let's say £115k a week / 52 = £5.98m a year.

Total increase again is £17.98m (let's call it £18m)

So of the £30m left after Maxi <-> Barnes (R), we could then spunk another £18m a year over the next 5 years and still have £12m left to play with.

£12m remaining, let's sign someone for £35m / 5 = £7m a year on £96k a week * 52 = £4.99m a year. Total, £12m

There are agents fees fees to consider among this, but the club could well just ignore this in the calc as it will hopefully be swallowed by commercial growth elsewhere.

Maxi - good player, but our most saleable asset that isn't key to us moving forward. He's an impact sub lads. I'd much rather do something like the above.
Summary?

From BBC, Pierre and Ben are ****tards

Pierre: I think Saint-Maximin should stay and be given the chance to play in the Champions League. He's the type of flair player that could thrive in that competition, so I'd be excited to see what he can do.

Neil: The FFP regulations dictate what the club can and can’t do, and it's obvious we need to sell to buy. The squad players Howe might want to move on aren’t attracting any interest, apart from tentative loan enquiries, so realistically he may be forced to let someone go who he'd prefer to keep.

Ben: Selling ASM would be the first big mistake since the takeover. Yes, he had a poor injury-hit season, and took time adapting to Howe, but players do that (Rashford and Grealish). He kept the club up almost single-handedly at times, and can produce brilliance few of our players can match. He should be with us for the Champions League.

Adam: I think there's a few names that could be offloaded before we need to shift ASM. There's players in the Newcastle squad that I can't see getting any real game time like Hendrick, Fraser, Ritchie, Krafth, Dummett - and at least one of our five goalkeepers. They all deserve to be getting regular football.

Keith: Any attacking player has to contribute to our goal count. That hasn’t happened yet and I don’t see it happening with Saint-Maximin. He also causes frustration amongst his team-mates with his head-down running and lack of vision. It’s time for him to go.
