ASM definately on his way out then.

FFP is definitely kicking in.

Until we get the commercial deals in. We won’t be making many big signings from now on.

And ASM is our only real decent valuable sellable player.

You mean the fans that were using mental gymnastics suggesting it was all just a cunning plan to keep prices were all completely wrong?

They'll not learn... they hear something they don't like , ignore all the evidence and find an excuse to believe what they 'want' to believe.

I’ve been saying for a very long time that we needed the commercial side to develop if we want to compete.

It has to a certain degree. But not to maintain past levels of spending.

The champions league qualification will help.

With the PL putting us under the microscope and vetting all our commercial deals. We won’t be making mega money signings like everyone (including other fans) expected.

This is why I am baffled with Chelsea and Everton and to a lesser extent Aston Villa.

For the latter. They have spent a lot.

There he is with the fans again. They, them. Just call us all gravy stained skunks and complete the change <laugh><laugh><laugh>

I personally would also Kristian keep Almiron however he’s 29 on the back of an excellent season in the PL - his stock will be high and I reckon we’d get as much as we do for ASM. That will then allow better players to come in

Villa sold Grealish for a truck load to be fair.

Sure Chelsea had a previous transfer embargo during the FFP period and their commercial deals are crazy.

Everton have been signing utter chuff for years for next to nowt.

I'd be looking at Wilson

I'd just be more patient and if we need to sell the likes of Wilson to buy others then we can wait until next year to spend again. The guy is 31 and probably only has a couple of seasons playing well for us but his figures have been excellent:

Just above a 1 in 2 return on goals over the 3 seasons. Not many around who challenge that and for the first of those he was feeding on scraps.

I've been very vocal in support of him , but if you're looking to sell a player I'd be looking at him.

He's no spring chicken, his stock won't increase.

The idea is a long term business decision rather than a performance one.

Goals are the hardest part to get. And he scored them. I understand what Chaos is saying but for me you can’t buy a goalscorer for anything less than 50m these days.

So when he is no longer worth anything at all and not scoring you'd have missed the opportunity to cash in.

It's always a gamble , but it's easier to replace the goals with money.

The two are symbiotic though aren't they. Each position in the Premiership is worth a few million and qualification for any form of Europe is another chunk of million on top of that. Then when you add in the knock on effects of sponsorship, etc then the difference between finishing 8th and 6th is easily £15m+ and the difference between 6th and 4th another £30m+ on top of that. I'd agree that it's a gamble, and I'd agree he's the next most obvious choice of player who is worth selling who it could make sense to move on, I just personally don't think the level of the gamble stacks up as I reckon he'd make us more money in the next 2-3 years than we'd get for selling him and that any replacement for him would cost a lot more and would struggle to do as well.

You won’t get more than £20m for him. He’s not valuable to us.
Almiron on the other hand is worth over £40m

Almiron is a work horse he's younger scores goals and defends very well.

I don't particularly like the idea of selling either, but Wilson is always a week away from injuries and almiron is made of granite.
