Wont disagree about Almiron and would also add that we need players in the squad who aren't going to whinge if they are dropped for certain matches. Almiron seems like an excellent team player, the kind of guy who would play in the QF and SF of a competition and when being told he wasn't playing in the final would turn up to support the team with a big smile on his face - there's an intangible value to that which I'm certain Howe sees and appreciates (it's why the likes of Richie, Lascelles, Dummett haven't been moved on yet despite offering us little to nothing for the first team).

It's about being proactive ... do you wait until Wilson is injured or for his legs to go leaving him completely worthless or do you cash in when his stocks high.

Isak is here so Newcastle can earn their stripes and find a player to back him up before they are worth big buck's.

    It's a cattle market.

Wilson sale and we just get a replacement for him. Sell Almiron and we can buy his replacement and another 1 or 2 players

It's one of those that you wouldn't know the answer until a year or two later, for me I'd prefer him to go for nothing in 2-3 years as one or two league positions in either of those seasons would be the same value (or more) than we'd likely get for him anyway. As you say it's a gamble, I just don't like those odds.

I think the issue is that if the clubs looking at players they can actually sell for decent there's only Wilson I'd let go.

All the others are younger and can be part of the next 2 or 3 years whereas Wilson is a dinosaur that has injury issues.

It's all about opinion and that's mine but obviously others would prefer to sell Almiron who's more than likely going to be available most games and still has years in him.

We need to get rid of Darlow, Fraser, Hendrick, Manquillo (who i actually quite like but think Kraft offered more when fit, otherwise we sell Kraft I guess) and Isaac Hayden. I can't see us getting much for most of those (less than £20m in total, possibly a lot less) but even if we only got £10m for them and ended up paying half their wages until the end of their contracts that's still a bigger income/saving than a sale of Wilson would be. The club knows this and these players are presumably their priority.

I haven't included Lascelles or Lewis as although I don't relish the idea of them playing for us we currently need a CB before we can consider letting one go and Lewis isn't worthless.

I absolutely agree on this but they'll fetch nothing... it's the wages they'll shift though which is another reason why you can't get rid of them.

Firstly, whilst none of them are good enough to get in our first team, or indeed the first team of almost any Premiership team, they would all likely have become first team regulars if we'd gone down a couple of years back with the expectation that they'd have been part of a squad that would get us automatic promotion - they'd not totally worthless.

I think Hayden and Hendrick are either going for effectively nothing, out on loan for a the season (with some of their wages being paid) or for a nominal fee (sub £3m) where we still cover some of their wages. Any of those is a win and both of those players didn't look out of place playing in the Championship last year (Hendrick got relegated with Reading but played all their games and was "ok", Hayden only played 12 games but for Norwich who were pretty good) so I'd have thought someone would take them off our hands - Hayden in particular.

Darlow is probably good enough for the Championship too but I can't see us getting more than a small fee.

Fraser is an interesting one, honestly if we'd gone down a couple of years back he's exactly the kind of player we'd have been expecting to play every game in the Championship for us and get us back up, there's clearly talent there and he was a massive part of the reason we finished the 2021/22 season so strongly. He's easily worth £5m+ and I'd have thought we'd get a buyer but would need to subsidise his wages - which we just need to agree to.

I can see Manquillo going to a team in the lower half of La Liga and being decent. A small fee and 50% of wages.

They'd fetch a fee, but these players are on premier league wages and premier league clubs are unlikely to be keen on taking them , so it leaves Newcastle stuck trying to offload them.

Forest might be daft enough maybe Luton need players , but the pool of clubs looking to take 80k wages for fraser (example) will be very small.

Figures for wages for each of these are quoted differently everywhere I look but seem to be around 40k p/w on average, so about 200k p/w in total. If we can get other clubs to even just pay a quarter to half of that (ideally more obviously) then I think that's a good deal for them and we would have to see freeing up £50k-100k p/w off the wage bill as a win, plus whatever minimal fees we get for them. Anyway, think we're going around in circles here as i suspect all fans agree that getting rid of those is a major priority as, unlike Lascelles or Lewis, I cannot envisage any situation in which any of those are getting any game time.

40 a week is still a very high wage for a player of that quality outside the Premier league. A player like Tonali was on around that at AC Milan.

Ultimately the only clubs that would be interested in these players can get a better or similar player abroad on half the wage.

I'm pretty sure Newcastle are active in trying to get rid , but have thus far failed otherwise selling max wouldn't have been necessary.

Lascelles and few others will probably get shifted towards the end of the window, but Newcastle don't have time to **** about I guess.

If only Hung would be less selfish and agree to let the club have 10% of all his signed photograph sales, then we'd be sorted for funding transfers.

Was a very good goal this two perfect passes and a nice finish ... a better keeper would've saved it though.

I keep saying it that Anderson is going to be a very good player for Newcastle ... I thought he was excellent Yesteday.

Why is it? Gotta pay for our players somehow...

It's an option for those that find it most convenient. For others with other workarounds, there's that...
