Liverpool has made initial bid of £25.7m for Perr Schuurs , and it has been rejected by the Italian Club. They considered him cheaper than Lavia.
The fact that we've gone very quiet since signing the two, concerns me that that was all we had planned to buy this summer. Yes we have an interest in Colwill and Lavia, but it feels we had a cap on how much for them and there are no other alternatives. If Fab and Hendo leave we might be forced into buying, but it doesn't look like we were/are in a rush. So much for a 'big Summer'
We are generally quiet though, it’s one of our more positive traits. I suspect Fabinho goes and we announce someone straight after. Lavia is very highly rated and sought after but it’s all gone very quiet on him in general - because we’ve wrapped him up maybe? Who knows
it’s a typical summer window…..dominoes haven’t started to fall properly yet. Lots of time for FSG to surprise us
Keita injured in warm up for Werder Bremen, out for several weeks. Shame really. I hoped he could get back some form.
To be fair I doubt the club expected to lose fab or Hendo this summer so the plan was prob to being in 2 midfielders and be sorted with idea of replacing hendo/fan/thiago in future windows. The fab move seems to us to have come from now where and the Hendo one so not sure can blame the club if they’re a bit slow in potentially replacing (if they do go). Think focus since Szobo signing as prob been on Cb’s and imagine work going on for that
Gerrard is responsible for the Henderson saga. The way things have turned out, if he hadn't pushed for the extended contract, he would be leaving on a free. Be funny if that renewed contact stops him moving.
You'd think we'd have multiple targets identified though. I'd be worried if we're didn't have tabs on a number of players.
Hopefully yes, but if we weren't expecting to lose Fab and Hendo (and they haven't gone yet) then I'd expect contingency plans to take a little time.
Think I posted last week that my sister's ex boss has a son who works in the LFC marketing department (or freelances for them, or something). Tenuous, I know. He was dead right over Coutinho, Allison, Virgil, Jota, and a few others. He's gone quiet the last two seasons, but he was saying we've done all our buying for this season except for Colwill if we can get him (almost certainly not), and the money for Hendo and Fab will just be offset against the purchases for Mac and Dom. I've heard figures from FSG saying they recognise there has to be major investment in the midfield and so forth, but that will be done in line with FSG's strategy of £25-35m net spend - if we get Colwill it will come out of next year's net spend. We've spent our budget this season (and next, if Hendo and/or Fab don't go), and that's just the way we do business.
