yeah, they faded. But look at thier record from the off to game week 21. 18-2-1. they lost game week 6 to man utd away in a back and forth game rememebr this is a team that had the world cup in the miedle and wen on til feb when they had a bad little run of everton (how the actual ****), brentford and city at home (loss) imo they wobbled then and never got back. I think they will be all business this year. they had the lead just like we had a lead in 18/19 or whenever. people were saying the same about us back then. we cannot ignore 18-2-1 start to a season. nor can we ignore DDDLWWLLW record in the run in, that run started against us with xhaka being an idiot. it had another city loss in there. IMO they have to show they have learned form what happened and be stronger against city and use the same energy again.
No I agree, I've never tried to downplay it personally - the points total after those games was top, top class. I do have a different opinion on how they kick on for the coming season though, because I'm certain it won't be an 18-2-1 record and then the fans start getting shirty (and the gooners are ****ing terrible for this, fickle ain't the word)! Then it becomes a big uphill battle. Just my opinion/hope
Well thst could happen my view is ramsdale - not half as good as they or he thinks white - not an rb saliba- good, still developing Gabriel- vastly over rated zinchenko - can't defend but good attack rice - not a no 6 odengaard - nice player but you can get at him havertz - wtf are they at saka - one of my favourites top young player martinelli - another of my favourite, top top talent imo Jesus- good but not that good. huge energy in that side and they can kill most sides in 20 mins with speed and ability. the issue they have is they will be wide open to the counter imo.
behind that off the top of my head they have Tierney , Timber , Viera, Jorginho ,Partey Trossard ,Kwior (sp) and some youngish midfielder whose name escapes me oh and Rob Holding
. He has a really cool sounding name at least. His name sounds bad. No where near as fun Pape Demba Diop. I vote for Pape.
We've got Klopp, they've got Arteta. Our new lads hit the ground running, who will you back to challenge city?
What happens in our midfield; who goes, who stays, who arrives, who stays but is angry we didn't give them a chance to earn over half a million a week in Arabia... Won't be able to predict if we make it on that top four until we know what's going on in midfield. Half way through July and NOW we're switching players (probably). Definitely not ideal timing.
All I can say is that if I were an Arsenal fan I'd be hopeful, but I wouldn't have much faith. Their collapse last season was criminal.
wouldn’t say it was criminal. It’s more that Man City are a machine, where anything less than perfection is not good enough
nobody. I'd contend there's a half chance city completely flop next season. A small half chance based on squad fatigue, player loss to transfer and rampant boozing. there more of a chance of arsenal running away with it like we did in 19/20 with no real challenge than arsenal getting into a proper title race with a proper city side. We need to just face some hard truths 1. VVD is not what he was. If we don't adjust how we play we will continue to leak goals 2. We still cannot break down set defences. Something has to change to win games. 3. Our real issue separating us from the dregs like utd and newcastle was lack of goals. IMO our real issue is getting goals out of nunez and keeping gakpo, jota and diaz fit. This is IMO just as important as the midfield 4. Even if two new boys hit the ground running there is an imbalance in the squad thats travelled to germany. A player must arrive to replace fabinho. 5. Our system of borrowing a full back and playing a Cb at RB/CB is not quite what others are doing in the league. its all fine with the ball but without it we've seen issues. City saw issues. they tried this against us and lost in the first game last year with B.Silva at lw/lm/lb. they tonked us at home. Theres a massive difference between city approach of stones stood there as a CB playing CM beside rodri and fast guys behind in behind that and us parking trent who's not a cb and can't defend there and expecting a real big cb like konate to cover 40 yards of ground. City have the nice situation of having 75% possession and stones basically reverting to CB in thier formation until they get set to defend (if they don't win it back fast) Our system needs tweaking this summer. thats what I am saying. We cannot turn up expecting it to work without spending a lot of time and effort getting it right. The thing about city is the can play various players and get it done. If trent is out we cannot play our 3223 formation, not really. whatever we do we need 2 players in every slot. Not one system with trent and one system without. that can't work.
