Same here, I'm not much of a Djokovic fan myself and Alacaraz is good to watch and seems likeable.

I do feel a little bit for Djokovic though, I think he's genuinely perplexed and hurt by how strongly the crowds are against him. Brought it on himself over the years of course.

Not a massive tennis fan. How has he brought it on himself? The covid stance he took or is there something else?

Not so much that although he did behave like an arse being a tennis ambassador and going round spreading covid indiscriminately. More his gamesmanship, whinging to the umpire a lot and the one that stands out for me is when he lashed a ball at a line judge and hit her in the throat.

He says it was accidental but not for me and he was disqualified for it.

He's been coached well, compliment the opponent, talk about your family, shed a tear...
- the bloke is a machine <laugh><laugh>

Aye if the only thing we had to go on was interviews everyone would love him, he's always been very personable and gracious in them whatever the result.

For me I don't have strong feelings of dislike for him it's just that the longer his career's gone on the more his shenanigans have eroded the good will I had for him back in the day.

Anyway it's about Alacaraz and he looks a cracking player. Great range of shots and most importantly, he's a winner. Tests don't get much harder than the one he came through today.

What we watching here is a sports megastar stepping forward.

Kid is going to destroy record books. He’s no fighting Federer and Nadal for a slice.

He is going to take the piss. Incredible talent.
Agree totally. Lad is unbelievable.

Can’t stand Djokovic! Horrible arrogant prick
To be honest that’s my thoughts as well. Back in the dark days of the pandemic when he decided to not get vaccinated (I’m not going to go there) he came to Australia. I was working on a team that formed part of the response to it. I had to make decisions every day that prevented vaccinated citizens from entering the state where they lived. He comes along thinking that because he’s a famous sports player he could just waltz in. He was eventually deported but the way it was dealt with by virtually everyone involved was sickening.
I’m not disputing his playing ability but his integrity stinks.

Alcaraz safely through in straight sets

Saw a bit of that, the other lad was pretty decent (haircut aside) but Alcaraz made it look easy.

Good to see Raducanu back I'd been wondering if it was ever going to happen. Seems to be going ok.

I'd be delighted if she (ER) went through the whole competition without injury , she's had some terrible luck and deserves a fair crack at a big competition.
