Not really. I may be wrong but Milner was playing when we bought him. How can anyone judge how Phillips is playing these days.?
Have to say Lavia at present is worth nowhere near the £50m plus it will take to sign him . We would need him to be a linchpin of the team pretty much straight away yet with him you are paying for the obvious potential and HG status. On a similar vein i'm really not as convinced by Colwill as many on here.
Lavia is a 19 year old, is he that good that we MUST buy him? I genuinely don’t know. Klopp knows what/who he wants I suspect and I have a feeling that there’s a surprise or two around the corner yet.
hasn’t he played for England recently? Personally, I’d like a bit more height in that position and wouldn’t buy him - I was only commenting on someone else’s post, not advocating the purchase
I only saw Colwill play for u21’s - he looked good but it’s relative to who he was playing. I never really watched Lavia but if he was THAT good, City would be buying him back. Massively overpriced on that basis.
IMO, Lavia and Colwill have massive potential. Both young and have got good minutes and experience already. We have to try and avoid overpaying for them now but they are potential world beaters as well being home grown. There aren’t many players who profile like VVD … colwill is one though.
Loosing two ageing midfielders to the Arabs buying Caicedo Is not going to be a bad idea if the price is negotiable.
tbh i thought our other CB ,Harwood-Bellis, was probably the better over the whole tournament (though i missed the win v Germany as i thought it was the late KO ) but lets not forget Anthony Gordon looked good in fact really good in the early games ,when England in general were playing some very nice stuff , so that should give an idea of the overall standard .
let's talk reality for a moment. all last season we had massive issues. we had to play a child for 10 games before he broke and then borrowed trent to stand beside fabinho and hoped konate could cope covering two positions. fabinho has regressed a lot. I've never personally seen a player come back running more than ever after slowing down like that so 40mil is a pretty good result. if I were klopp I'd be asking thiago to stay 12months as I can't really see Barca actually taking him as they will want a free Henderson seems to be a gerrard attack from the second string clubs who are not going to pony the cash a proper dm is 100% needed here ASAP. 40mil is coming. turn it round and get it out the door ASAP
it just a real shame bajcetic and morton are not able to yet fully train and grab one of these open slots. Bradley will want to really impress though, force klopp to move trent to 6.
Jordan Henderson is going no where https://www.thisisanfield.com/2023/...13-2m-not-nearly-enough-for-jordan-henderson/
Neither should be relied upon but both should get chances. If Hendo also goes, who do we have, excluding the kids Thiago Mac Szob Jones Elliott It’s still a bit lightweight or inexperienced imo we need one top player in at #6 and then let the kids fill the gaps.
Well we only need kids for most of the europa so yeah I'd trent doesn't move there then a 6 is needed. there's no balance there. but then before fabinho arrived there was no balance either. it was really once he arrived thst we started to fly. I hope klopp learned the lesson as he was dead against a defensive player in the media before that.
