It's not about massive age gaps in relationships for me, but I do not think a 17 year old and a 61 year old is appropriate, even if legal. All I see is people keep making excuses for certain behaviours, that in turn then condones it in my view, which then leads to deeper issues. High celebrity ****s and I repeat I'm not suggesting the person in question is one, get away with what they do, because of these certain behaviours being seen as acceptable, that then puts people in fear of reporting behaviours. We've now had two high profile presenters one ITV, one BBC, challenged on these behaviours, even if not challenged in an appropriate manner, both presenters earned the sort of money most people can only dream of, that puts them in a position of power, even authority, they are the representative faces of our media - so this isn't Joe Bloggs off the street, this is two people that have to uphold certain (family) values in my opinion, they are the examples to some (not me). If both presenters did engage in those sort of behaviours, being attracted to younger men, then I find that unacceptable, much as Saudi Arabia find homosexuality unacceptable. And before anyone asks, I don't believe it should happen in the music and film industry either, we've already seen that abuse of power in Hollywood, because things became normalised. I have no problem with age gaps, but I do feel a tad uncomfortable with a 44 year age gap of a high profile person, with lots of money.

Should make law that informal rule. Half your age +7 difference

Thing is mate, humans push boundaries, so if it becomes acceptable for x then those mentally fooked up to push for y their next fix. Talking of mentally fooked up, isn't said person in hospital on mental health grounds. <whistle>

it is, but i would have to disagree with what you are saying as a centrist. Of course the needle will always try to move to the more extremes, but whilst i disagree with some woke ideas, it's better to be in a middle ground of where we are now than saying we should make transgenderism illegal because if we don't do that, at some point we're going to let kids change their genders.

If someone finds a 20 year old fit doesn't automatically mean next they are going to find a 10 year old fit. If anyone wanted to change that law i'd hope that people are sensible enough to know that it is disgusting and we should absolutely not go there.

But presenters along with the music industry along with the film industry are pushing them boundaries, I bring back to what we are actually talking about, presenters, because it don't otherwise happen in normal family life.

What 17, 18, 19 or even 20 year old is going to find me attractive or @FosseFilberto or @Diego or any other old fart pushing the upper age limit, let me tell you Bobby, absolute zero!

And the only reason celebrities are allowed to get away with it is because of money. That money brings power, authority, even protection, they are pushing the law to the boundary.

Chief said earlier about the guy from the Stones, as I replied then, the only reason they get away with it, is because he's a great guy, makes music, brings smiles to peoples faces....take that to the next level, Good ole Jimmy fixed it for everyone, even gave them a gold medal as a reward. <laugh>

I say some of this in tongue in cheek Bobby, but I'm sure you get my point, even if you disagree with me. <ok>

oh it's absolutely to do with money. And unless they had a weird old man fetish (loads of weird fetishes around), i would say 99% of it is money and power. I think that applies to any walk of life, there will always be girls (and guys) who will be with someone for their money whether they are 60 or whether they are 25 like those fat mid aged men.

I'm not at that age yet and whilst i agree morally and sentimently it looks wrong for a mid 20s bird to be with an old man, the idea of a pervy old man finding a lass like that attractive isn't something i think is weird if that makes sense.

happy to discuss this stuff though, it's interesting to see other peoples views and its nice we can talk about loads of **** on here thats not just footie related.

I'm still not clear if it was a lass or lad he was supposedly doing this with, I really thought it was a lad, but I might be getting this mixed up with the other presenter.

Yeah it's good to discuss it, although my brain needs a rest now lol.

My Mrs was 21 when I met her, I was 30.

Conceptually, when she was 16 and I was 25, would that then have been disgusting?

I know that gap is absolutely nowhere near what we're talking about but, I've no doubt there's some big mouth **** out there would call me a ***** from behind their keyboard.

For all I care any presenter and their wife/husband/partner could also have a ten year age gap it matters not. It's when that interest turns to someone young enough to be in your own son or daughters class at school to such an extent it creates a 41 year age gap (let alone the fact he already has a family), which generally in the main only happens in the celebrity world. The two situations are not comparable.
