Just got home to see the air ambulance land on Roker beach, doesn't seem like there is any urgency mind so maybe they fancied a bite to eat from Love Lillys :emoticon-0100-smile

From todays Sunderland Echo copied in full to avoid clickbait:

Sunderland have been awarded a sum in the region of a quarter of a million pounds by FIFA as a result of Jewison Bennette and Bailey Wright's participation in the World Cup.
FIFA today released the details of its Club Benefits Programme, which compensates clubs whose players were involved in the tournament last year for each day they spent on duty.
Sunderland have been awarded 299,311 in US dollars. Bennette and Costa Rica were knocked out of the group stages but Wright's Australia were able to advance to the last 16 where they were beaten by eventual champions Argentina.

Wright has subsequently left the club to join Singapore City Lions, while Bennette is fit again after suffering a dislocated shoulder while on international duty in March. He'll be hoping to push his claims for first-team involvement this season on the club's pre-season tour of the US.

So the new live action Snow White film has ditched the dwarves (almost) in favour of having a diverse mix of full size people. Presumably they're doing it to be PC like everything else they do but I don't get the logic.

I don't see how turning down jobs for actors with dwarfism which I believe is classed as a disability, in favour of people with no disabilities is the PC option. I think if I was a dwarf actor looking for work and I was told I wasn't suitable to play a dwarf and they were hiring some 6 foot bloke I'd be a bit pissed off.

It's Hollywood. They're utterly determined to ride their ideology to destruction.

How the **** can they make an Indiana Jones movie that might not even make it's production cost back?

True but in this case I don't understand why they think they're taking the PC option when as far as I can tell they're openly discriminating against people with disabilities. Surely they could have hired a diverse group of dwarf actors and updated their characters to modern sensibilities.

That's not how their ideology works. There's no thought beyond 'can't have dwarves can't have dwarves can't have dwarves'. Because of that they've denied roles to little people.

Been working at our head office in Wales for the last 3 weeks thanks to one of the directors leaving the business in a hurry which caused a panic.

Back home for 2 weeks then looking at having to spend a week a month in Wales. Plus side been offered a directorship with the business and waiting on the solicitor to finish drawing up the documents. Down side one week a month in South Wales

This just caught my eye and I fully agree with banning disposable vapes, in a world where we are meant to be environmentally conscious it’s ridiculous that these are allowed.

Also the age restrictions are definitely not working, pretty sure some parents are just giving them to their kids based on the number of school kids using them. I know someone who works in a school and it’s becoming a big problem (it’s a bloody primary school!). If it was up to me I’d be banning flavoured vapes completely.

Totally agree . Another example of todays world where a few individuals are only interested in the profit and sales figures of their product and don’t give a toss about the bad consequences of that product on individuals , children , population as a whole , environment or nhs. Deliberately targeting the young with “ sweetie/bubble gum” flavours , whilst justifying with “ we always recommend careful use”. or the old favourite , “ it’s what the consumer has asked for”

The marketing is strikingly similar to the alcopops in the 90’s. Nobody can tell me the aim of flavoured vapes isn’t to tempt younger users of the product and therefore increase profits.

Banning disposable vapes would be a start at least.
