So, Hull people are worse off than Middlesbrough, Stoke, .Leicester, .Coventry? There are a lot of people in Leeds on the same wages as in Hull. It is not about what you have coming in it is what you have left after outgoings. Places like Hull and Middlesbrough have low amounts coming in but lower amounts going out than places like Stoke and Leicester which have low wages coming in but more money going out.

That's where the cultural aspect comes in. Their support holds better as its higher on folks priority list.

I've know folk in the north east go to food banks but still get to games as its engrained socially up here.

You don't get the same apathy here.

A forum for Hull City fans is not reflective of Hull people and their attitudes. The teats who infest the comments sections on City articles in the HDM are though.

Do you mean you don’t get the same apathy there?
Funny, years ago the places with fanatical support were places which were relatively poverty stricken as it was seen as an escape from the harsh realities of everyday life. Glasgow, Napoli, Liverpool, the favella dwellers of Brazil etc.ll

Most people, well all people on here, are City fans though who want the club to do well. Unfortunately a lot in Hull don’t. I can’t think of another place where people revel in the misfortunes of the local club as much as Hull.

Well you said you don’t get the same apathy here which means there is less apathy than those places you mention where spending on football is more engrained. Which is obviously not the case.

Football is a religion in the North-East and maybe Merseyside, but very few places elsewhere, including Hull.

I know what you were getting at. I was making an observation regarding people on here. It is not a conversational one way street with no turn offs.

Thought they were mental when I first moved here. Get used to it though so it now seems strange when you see cities that aren't as mental.

Wouldn’t mind if we had the sort of support teams like Forest get.

I was on holiday at the end of April and a couple(round about my age) were on the terrace opposite me(along with her elderly parents).I was out having a beer one day in one of my old Hull City training tops and we got talking,he had an East Yorkshire accent, came from Scarborough,Leeds Utd fan, didn't go..Says it all really.

They were in the **** at the time and we were both right when we said they'd be relegated!!

Anyway,as it happens the lasses Dad(must have been 80) was a Boro fan and he had some really nice recollections of visiting our old stadium and his use of the train to Boothferry.I spoke to him in length about both teams and he was extremely plugged in for his age.He still goes to Boro home games...That's the difference between him and his son in law.

As an aside to that and a bit of a coincidence, there was another bloke who I chatted to at the pool from Sheffield. He'd recently returned to Sheffield having been bar manager at Cottingham Memorial Club for the last 5 years.

Forest? TBH. I've been there half a dozen times, never noticed any stand out support that made me think: Do you know what they're really well supported. Decent yes, but nothing special...ditto Derby. Though granted they seem to sell out their allocation on the road.

When I moved to Leeds couldn’t believe how volatile the crowds were and the travelling hordes from Man City, Everton etc were. Going back to Boothferry Park was a letdown as far as atmosphere went. One of the well know Leeds lads I knew was in their Hull office and went to a City game midweek. He said wonderful ground, Leeds Kop was still The Scratching Shed then the Gelderland End was uncovered, and he wished Leeds could play on a surface like ours every week but he couldn’t do with the lack of atmosphere.

I dont get what you want people to say? We have a smaller fanbase than a lot of clubs especially considering the size of the city and the nearest big club being miles away. The club is trying to get people back with cheaper tickets and a better off the pitch matchday experience but lets face it the one thing that will bring the hoards back constantly is attractive football or success. Neither of which we have right now.

The last time we had success the Allams did about everything to divide the fanbase and it worked. My mates I used to go with now no longer go and I doubt I'm the only one. They stopped during the Allams and during that and covid found better things to do. Subsequently they're also priced out due to the cost of living crisis.

It will take time but there's no point comparing us to other clubs as there's a lot of factors that seperate us and them on different levels. It's really not that hard

10 year waiting list for a season ticket at Ibrox and sold out every year even after being relegated to the 3rd division.
