If this involved a Tory MP, would you be so forgiving Strolls ?
I think not

It's not a question of forgiving. Edwards committed no crime, but has been disgraced and his career is finished. That's enough isn't it?

There's a Tory MP who's been accused of rape (a real crime) and hasn't even been suspended by his party. Where's the media speculation about who he might be?

The Edwards thing is a whole lot of fuss about bugger all. No different to Schofield.

No crime committed. Move on.

Morals matter in public life. And presumably BBC standards are higher than whether a crime has been committed by its tv presenter or not. But in this case, they didn't apply those standards

So what's the difference between paying a boy for pictures .....he says only when he was over 18 from what I am now understanding

And paying (was it 30 p) to see Sam Fox only her knickers when she became 17 in the sun .

Yes Stainsey it is vile, I have never bought the sun...so my conscience is clear on that one....

I am sure people on here have, and lots of others have too
I am sure lots of people both famous and not famous ( if that matters),

Just checking my facts and found this quote from Sam Fox...

Sam Fox revealed on Good Morning Britain that she had been three months shy of 17 when her first topless photo appeared on the front of The Sun.

Vile disgusting I am sure you would agree.

No I am not sticking up for Edwards...but the hypocrisy, double standards...and downright disregard for the people involved fills me with disgust

Morals matter more to some organisations ..than to others

Two wrongs don’t make a right Strolls.....this MP should be named and shamed, if found guilty and should definitely have been suspended by his party in the meantime. However I would suggest that if he was named before any possible trial, then that would make it unfair in the eye of the law....though I might be incorrect in this assumption

Where's Labour's Nick Brown, why's he had the whip suspended and why won't Starmer answer questions on him?

Again I ask the question....are you assuming this is a boy, or has that been actually confirmed anywhere ?
Sorry Beth, but from your previous posts it did seem like you were sticking up for this man

The first person ...named by the parents was a boy. Stated by the parents..."my son".

I know nothing about the 2 later claims. Interestingly C4 named one of them as a boy, but they retracted that at lunchtime whilst I was watching and later said it was a 20 year old person

Surely the taxpayer-funded actual government of the country should be at the top of the high morals list, instead of behaving in a sleazy, underhand manner.

You answer a question with a question. So the BBC doesn't have high morals then. Its as honest and straightforward as Boris.

Where was it reported that the parents said “my son” ? I can’t find it anywhere. And my daughter showed me some random website saying it was a young girl (though this was probably a dubious website/report).
A link please

What... asking the first complaints twice for information, which was not Forth coming.
Being informed there was no legal case to answer
Responding quickly when told of subsequent allegations last Thursday. ( the first complaint in May was not the same as last Thursday s).

Suspending the presenter within 24 hours of the second set of allegations.

Trying very hard, as they should do, to maintain the person's privacy, until there was a decision on legality.

Yes the could have tried harder to get to the bottom of the first complaint...but apparently it was not a legal issue..

I seriously wonder how many of these sorts of allegations go through HR each day.
I know of quite a few in my old work place.......it is very very sad

Edwards is seemingly a bit pervy, but has committed no crime and I find it hard to see how he's harmed anyone. He hasn't resigned, so it'll be interesting to see if the BBC has grounds to sack him.
